Garmin Fenix 8 series may feature larger displays
Following up on the previous information about Garmin’s upcoming smartwatches, new details have emerged that provide a clearer picture of what users can expect from these latest fitness-focused wearables. It seems likely the Fenix 8 series will have a smaller bezel, allowing for a larger display.
Release timeframe: Late August or early September
According to a number of different sources, Garmin may be poised to unveil the Fenix 8 series as early as next Tuesday, August 27th. If not then, we expect the watches to see the light of day the following Tuesday, September 3rd.
This timing aligns with Garmin’s decision to skip the IFA trade show in Berlin, which begins on September 6th. To remind the company did the same thing last year. By launching the Fenix 8 models just before IFA, the company can likely capture more media attention and spotlight for its latest offerings, rather than competing with other industry events.
Larger displays in the same form factors
The main news with the Fenix 8 is the transition from MIP to AMOLED displays. But there is also the potential for increased display sizes , despite the watches maintaining similar case dimensions as their predecessors.
The 51mm Fenix 8 will likely feature a 1.5-inch display, while the 47mm variant could boast a 1.4-inch screen. Additionally, a rumored 43mm model may sport a 1.3-inch display. For comparison purposes, the Fenix 7 Pro Sizes come in as 1.2 inch screen for the 42mm case size, 1.3 inch for the 47mm and 1.4 inch for the 51mm.
Check out the pics below. It certainly seems there is much less bezel on the Fenix 8 series. Users who prefer larger screens may find this upgrade particularly appealing, as it could enhance the visibility and usability of the various features and functions.
Let’s first compare the 47mm Fenix 8 and Fenix 7 Pro.
The same picture emerges when we compare the 51mm case sizes. Again, less bezel on the Fenix 8.
This is likely to be another differentiating factor between the Fenix 8 series and the Fenix 8 E series. Apart from the older heart rate sensor, the E series retains the larger bezel and smaller display size.
