Garmin Fenix 8 video leak fuels excitement ahead of launch

The official Garmin Fenix 8 launch date is only a few days away, but the leaks just keep on coming. Now a video has surfaced on a Russian Instagram account, marking the first time we’ve seen the device in action. This leak showcases the watch and takes viewers through some of its screens. Some people have even managed to purchase the device from retailers!

Starting off with the video, and it confirms several rumours and provides new insights into the Fenix 8 series. We are expecting Garmin to release three sizes. This includes a 43mm model with a 1.3-inch display, a 47mm version sporting a 1.4-inch screen, and a larger 51mm edition, also featuring a 1.4-inch display. Notably, the 47mm and 51mm models will give the option a MIP variant. That’s good news.

One important addition to the Fenix 8 is the inclusion of a microphone and speaker. This feature will enable voice commands for various functions. For example, setting timers, starting activities, saving locations, and adjusting settings. When paired with a smartphone, users will be able to answer calls and send messages directly from their wrist.

The leak also reveals two new modes catering to water adventurers: snorkel and scuba dive. This expansion of aquatic features suggests Garmin is targeting a broader range of outdoor activities with the Fenix 8.

Other notable improvements include the integration of Garmin’s new Elevate Gen 5 heart rate sensor and an enhanced vibration motor.

While the leak provides substantial information, some details remain under wraps. Those who have managed to get their hands on the device report that they cannot reveal much about the new features, as the watch cannot yet be synced with Garmin Connect.

Pricing information for the European market has also leaked, with the 43mm Fenix 8 starting at €999, the 47mm at €1,099, and the 51mm at €1,199. A new Fenix E (47mm) model is listed at €799, while the Enduro 3 (51mm) matches the top-end Fenix 8 at €1,199.
