Polar Vantage M3 potentially in the works after app discovery
In an interesting turn of events, code spotted in the Polar smartphone app has revealed explicit references to the Vantage M3, hinting at an upcoming release.
The discovery of this code strongly suggests that the successor to the Vantage M2 is not far off, which will likely excite those loyal to the brand. While there are no official details from Polar yet, this is a significant indicator that development is underway, and it could be just a matter of time before we see the Vantage M3 hit the shelves.
The Polar Vantage M2 was released back in early 2021. It maintains the core multisport tracking capabilities of its predecessor but adds new tools such as music controls, weather forecasting, and enhanced training guidance, like the FuelWise and Training Load Pro. These features aimed to provide more comprehensive support for performance optimization and recovery, making the M2 a more robust option for those serious about their training. Plus you get improved battery life.

The original Vantage M, launched in 2018, was already a popular choice due to its balance of affordability and functionality, offering heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, and a solid 30-hour battery life in GPS mode. It focused on providing essential metrics for multi-sport athletes in a lightweight package.
The presence of the M3’s code suggests Polar could be refining some of the popular features found in the Vantage M2, before release. There was talk that Pacer and Pacer Pro are the new vantage M as the devices offer pretty much the same (and better) features as the M2. So it will be interesting to see how Polar sets the M3 apart from these variants. Perhaps by including Android wearOS support?
Our takeaway, possible release date
The Vantage M series has an appeal from simplicity and a lower price point than the V range. No doubt, Polar will want to continue in this fashion. To remind, as of October 2023, the more high specs range is up to Vantage V3. That version came with a host of improvements including an AMOLED display, offline maps, a virtual flashlight, and an array of advanced sensors including ECG-capable heart rate monitoring, skin temperature, and blood oxygen levels.
As mentioned, there has been no official word from the company on any upcoming releases. The M3 might see the light of day between now and mid-November. Beyond that we are in the holiday shopping period. An alternative launch window may be CES 2025 in Las Vegas at the start of the year.
