Xiaomi certifies Smart Band 9 Active globally hinting at imminent release
Xiaomi is preparing to introduce the Smart Band 9 Active to a global audience, following recent certifications in both Malaysia and Europe. The wearable has received nods from SIRIM in Malaysia and the EEC in Europe, suggesting the release may be just around the corner, potentially before the end of the year.
This latest entry in Xiaomi’s fitness lineup could bolster its footprint in the affordable smart band market, offering more options for users who want robust tracking features at a reasonable price. To remind, this is a cheaper iteration of the vanilla and Pro version of the device.
Leaked images suggest that the Smart Band 9 Active will feature a 1.47-inch display, consistent with its predecessor. The design appears to include a flat display, contrasting with the curved screen of the previous model, and a band that covers the frame’s sides, potentially enhancing durability. The device is expected to be available in Pink, Black, and White color options.
Reports also indicate that the strap will be detachable and interchangeable, maintaining the practicality of earlier models. Notably, the Smart Band 9 Active is rumored to offer up to 18 days of battery life on a single charge, an improvement over the 14 days provided by the Band 8 Active.
Building on previous offerings
Xiaomi recently introduced its Smart Band 9 Pro in China, showcasing only a few upgrades over its predecessor, primarily in battery life and display brightness. The wearable retains a 1.74-inch AMOLED display but now features a peak brightness of 1200 nits, doubling that of the previous model and enhancing readability in outdoor settings. The aluminum casing, available in black, gold, and pink, adds a premium touch, while its slim profile and lightweight build at 24.5 grams keep it comfortable for everyday wear. Battery life is notably improved, offering up to 21 days on a single charge, though intensive use of features like GPS and always-on display will reduce that lifespan.

Fitness tracking remains comprehensive, with over 150 sports modes, enhanced sleep and heart rate monitoring, and built-in GPS. While NFC is included, it’s likely only for the Chinese market. Starting at 399 yuan (around €50) in China, global availability details are yet to be announced.
