Garmin acknowledges firmware 21.19 glitch in Forerunner series

Garmin has released into the wild public firmware version 21.19 for its Forerunner 255, 265, 955, and 965 models, with the update currently reaching approximately half of its user base. While the software brings several anticipated features, it has also surfaced an unexpected glitch.

Users have reported a persistent touchscreen issue following the update. Despite configuring device settings to disable touch functionality during activities, the touchscreen remains consistently responsive. Attempts to mitigate the problem through standard troubleshooting—such as device restarts and WiFi synchronization—do nothing to resolve the problem.

Garmin has acknowledged the touchscreen sensitivity issue and stated that they are actively investigating the problem. So hopefully a fix is in the near-future pipeline.

New features

Firmware 21.19 brings to public release features that have been in Beta testing for a couple of months now. Some of these are quite useful.

For example, the watches now have compatibility with Coach strength training plans, improved pool swim workout features, and new activity tracking options like meditation.
