Amazfit Helio Strap premium model & new colours expected in July

Amazfit Helio Strap launched today, and while it’s not trying to knock out Whoop, it offers a solid option for anyone who wants screen-free tracking. But that’s just the beginning. There are already signs that more versions are coming, including a premium model with upper arm support and alternate band designs.

July will bring more than just new colors

The version that’s available now is the standard Helio Strap in black. It follows the same core design introduced with the limited Hyrox edition earlier this month, though that one was targeted at HYROX athletes. Both use a quick release band that connects to a shell housing the main sensor. But it looks like that won’t be the only setup for long.

According to our sources, more colours are lined up for July. Gray black and gray white are on the list. They seem to come with a different mounting style. One side still uses a quick release, but the other feeds through a redesigned shell. It’s subtle, but the effect is cleaner and maybe more secure. Either way, the sensor inside doesn’t change.

That’s been the interesting part of this rollout. Zepp Health is building variations around a single sensor unit. It’s a modular idea. You can pop the core out of the standard edition and drop it into a different shell or strap. Some people are already using the Helio sensor with their Whoop bicep sleeves and other garments. It fits.

The premium model adds flexibility

The most interesting variant is expected to arrive next month. According to an early instruction booklet that surfaced online, it’s described as a premium edition, and the key change is a three-part midcase that lets you switch between wrist and upper arm placement.

This version doesn’t add new sensors or extra features. It just gives you more flexibility in how and where you wear it. That’s not nothing. Some people prefer upper arm wear for comfort, others for accuracy. Either way, having the option makes the Helio ecosystem a bit more versatile.

We don’t yet know how much the premium version will cost, but it’ll likely come in just above the $100 price tag of the standard Helio Strap. Zepp Health is clearly avoiding the subscription route. With Helio, you pay once and get the full feature set. That said, it’s still hard to call this a Whoop killer. The hardware holds up well, but the smartphone app still has a way to go if it’s going to match the depth and polish of Whoop’s platform.
