Withings BodyFit is now available in the UK, a month after its US launch put the new scale on the radar. The pitch is simple enough: a £229.95 smart scale with a retractable handle, 6-zone body composition analysis and a strong focus on tracking fat loss without losing muscle.

When we covered BodyFit back in early June, the interesting bit was not just another connected scale appearing on the market. It was the way Withings had taken one of the more useful ideas from its higher-end Body Scan line and pushed it into a more fitness-focused product.

The handle is the point

Most smart scales still suffer from the same problem. You stand on them, they send a signal through the lower body and then the software estimates what is going on elsewhere. That can be useful for trends, but it is still a fairly blunt way to look at body composition.

BodyFit does things differently because of the retractable handle. Hold it during a weigh-in and the scale can send the signal through the upper and lower body, rather than relying mostly on foot-to-foot readings. That allows it to break results into six zones, covering the arms, legs and trunk.

That is the feature Withings is leaning on for the UK launch. The company says the scan is up to three times faster than most segmental analysis smart scales, while still delivering data that would usually require more specialist equipment.

Of course, we would still not put it up there with DEXA. But home scales still live in the real world of hydration, timing and user consistency. As a daily trend tool, this is a far more interesting setup than a basic weight and body fat reading.

The GLP-1 angle

The timing is not accidental. With GLP-1 weight loss drugs now a much bigger part of the conversation, people are paying more attention to what they are losing, not just how much. Dropping weight quickly can look great on a graph, but the useful question is whether that reduction is mostly fat or whether muscle mass is also sliding.

That is where BodyFit has a more obvious role. Withings is positioning it as a way to see whether fat loss is happening while muscle is being protected. The app shows an animated zone-by-zone body scan and classifies the muscle-to-fat balance across the body.

This will not replace clinical testing for people who need medical precision. But for someone training, dieting or using GLP-1 medication, it could provide a clearer home signal than ordinary weight tracking.

More coaching, less spreadsheet work

Withings is also pushing BodyFit as a coaching product, not just a measurement tool. The scale works with the Withings app to track calorie balance and generate habit-based recommendations between weigh-ins.

That sounds useful, as long as the advice stays grounded and does not overreach. The best version of this product would be one that spots direction of travel and nudges users accordingly. Gaining muscle in the legs but losing too much mass in the arms? That is actionable. Losing weight but seeing muscle trend down across several zones? That is also actionable. Generic motivational chatter would be less useful.

Withings says BodyFit uses Bioelectrical Impedance Spectroscopy with 13 frequencies up to 800 kHz. It also says the technology has been validated against DEXA, with up to 99% correlation for fat mass and up to 98% for muscle mass. Those are big claims, and the usual caveat applies. Correlation in validation testing does not mean every home reading will be perfect. Still, multi-frequency BIS with a handle puts this above the simpler smart scales that mostly guess from the feet.

A more focused Withings scale

BodyFit now sits in an interesting place in the Withings range. It is not trying to be the full bathroom health station that Body Scan aims to be. So it occupies a middle-ground.

That makes the £229.95 UK price easier to understand. It is still a premium scale, but not priced like the top Withings models. If you are someone trying to understand the difference between weight loss and body recomposition, this scale may be of interest. Check it out on the Withings website.

Withings has made BodyScan 2 available to buy in Europe, putting its most advanced smart scale into the same range as Body Smart, Body Comp, BodyFit and the original Body Scan. US availability is expected any day now. That makes this a good time to clear up the lineup, because the names alone do not make the differences obvious.

If you are thinking about buying a smart scale, it doesn’t get any better than Withings scales. The company has made a name for itself in this product category, and other brands have some catching up to do. This site has published a number of reviews of its products, most recently the Body Scan. So make sure to check these out.

The range now has five clear steps

The range now spans a number of different scales, at different price points.

Body Smart remains the entry point. It covers more than 20 biomarkers, uses two bioimpedance frequencies up to 100 kHz and sticks to single-zone body composition. That means fat and muscle mass, hydration level, visceral fat, BMI, basal metabolic rate and standing heart rate. For most people who want a smarter version of a normal scale, this is the basic Withings pitch.

Body Comp moves things along without adding a handle. It raises the count to more than 30 biomarkers and adds vascular age plus a Nerve Health Score. Withings describes this as detecting early signs of diabetes-related complications, so this model sits closer to a health check-up than a fitness scale. It still uses two frequencies up to 100 kHz and single-zone body composition, so the upgrade is more about health signals than body mapping.

BodyFit is the interesting middle option

BodyFit is the new model that could cause the most confusion. It costs $279.95 in the US and jumps to more than 40 biomarkers, but the real shift is the retractable handle. That enables 6-zone analysis across the body rather than one averaged reading from the feet.

It also uses 13 bioimpedance frequencies up to 800 kHz, which puts it ahead of the original Body Scan on that specific line in the table. But BodyFit does not have ECG, atrial fibrillation detection or Nerve Response Score, so it is not a full health station. It might fit in the sweet spot for someone mainly interested in body composition, fat and muscle distribution, visceral fat and vascular age.

Body Scan still has a role

The original Body Scan remains the first proper health station in the lineup. It includes more than 40 biomarkers, 6-zone body composition, a retractable handle, standing heart rate, vascular age, 6-lead ECG and atrial fibrillation detection. It also adds Nerve Response Score, with stress response and recovery insights.

That makes Body Scan a different product from BodyFit, even though BodyFit looks strong on body composition. Body Scan leans harder into cardiovascular and nerve health. The comparison sheet also shows Glucose Resilience as a new metabolic feature for Body Scan, though this is one of those areas where buyers should watch the app rollout and Withings+ requirements closely.

BodyScan 2 is the top model, but not a simple upgrade for everyone

BodyScan 2 pushes the range to more than 60 biomarkers. It uses 13 bioimpedance frequencies up to 800 kHz, keeps 6-zone analysis and adds improved segmental measurements. The handle also gets touch-sensor electrodes, a built-in display and improved readability, which should make daily use less awkward than reading everything from the scale platform.

The extra health features are the bigger story. BodyScan 2 adds blood pressure insights, Heart Age and blood oxygen levels. It also keeps vascular age, 6-lead ECG, atrial fibrillation detection and Nerve Response Score. On paper, all of this sounds great – if you’re into that level of detail.

The subscription piece needs watching

What needs watching is the Withings+ subscription. It now sits across the range, but not every model gets the same experience. The comparison sheet shows Body Smart, Body Comp and BodyFit with Personalized Health Priorities, Weekly Plan and BodyPath. Body Scan and BodyScan 2 go further with cardiologist review included and Longevity Intelligence.

This is where the buying decision becomes less clean. Heart Age and Glucose Resilience sound like headline features for BodyScan 2, but Withings says those sit behind Withings+. So the question is not only which scale has the sensor hardware. It is also which insights remain useful without paying for the extra software layer.

Which one makes the most sense

Body Smart remains the sensible entry model if weight, body composition and basic health trends are enough. Body Comp adds useful health markers without the larger handle-based design, so it fits buyers who want vascular age and nerve health but do not care about segmental body mapping.

    Check prices

BodyFit looks like the best fit for people who mainly want better body composition data. It brings the handle, 6-zone analysis and 13-frequency bioimpedance at a much lower price than BodyScan 2. Body Scan remains the better choice if ECG and nerve response are important, especially if it gets discounted now that BodyScan 2 has arrived.

BodyScan 2 is the one for buyers who want the newest Withings health platform and are comfortable with the subscription angle. It has the broadest mix of body composition, cardiovascular, metabolic and longevity-style metrics. But the arrival of the new model also makes the cheaper options look more interesting, because the range now has clearer tiers than the product names suggest.

UPDATE July 20, 2026 Withings BodyScan 2 is now available to buy in the US for $599.95. It comes with free delivery, is FSA and HSA eligible.

Withings BodyScan 2 is now available to buy in Europe, taking the company’s new flagship smart scale out of early access and into a wider public launch. The US release is close too, with Withings telling users that the wait ends next week.

The launch follows the BodyScan 2 Insider Program from May. This gave 500 European users early access to final production hardware.

Withings leans hard into longevity

Withings is calling BodyScan 2 its first science-backed longevity station. That is a big label, but the idea is simple enough. The scale tries to turn a daily weigh-in into a broader cardiometabolic check.

It measures more than 60 biomarkers over time and pulls key signals into Longevity Intelligence inside the Withings app. That is meant to act as a health cockpit, showing how your body is trending rather than just displaying isolated readings.

The main features include 6-zone body composition, metabolic assessment, complete heart health and Longevity Intelligence. It still looks like a smart scale, but Withings clearly wants it to sit closer to a home health monitor than a weight tracker.

Body composition is the easy sell

The 6-zone body composition feature will probably be the most useful part for many buyers. Instead of giving one whole-body estimate, BodyScan 2 breaks fat and muscle readings down across different body zones.

That should make progress easier to understand. Weight alone does not say much when someone is building muscle, losing fat or trying to avoid lean mass loss. A more detailed breakdown gives users something more practical to track.

As always with home body composition scales, the exact number should not be treated as lab-grade truth. The value is in regular readings under similar conditions and watching the trend over time.

Metabolic tracking is where it gets more ambitious

The metabolic side is more interesting, although part of it is not ready yet. Withings says BodyScan 2 can track visceral fat, calorie balance and Glucose Resilience, but Glucose Resilience is marked as coming soon.

Now make no mistake, BodyScan 2 is not a continuous glucose monitor. And it is not directly measuring blood sugar. This looks more like a broader metabolic score built from the data Withings can collect or model through its app.

BodyScan 2 also brings in several cardiovascular features. Withings lists AFib detection, vascular age, blood oxygen, cardiac efficiency and hypertension notifications.

The scale is not cheap and some of the more interesting features are tied to Withings+. Heart Age is one example. It turns cardiac timing and efficiency data into an age-style score, which may be easier for users to understand than raw numbers.

Europe first, US next

BodyScan 2 is available now in Europe through the Withings website. In the UK it is priced at £450.

The US launch should follow next week. The company also says the white version is not available yet, but should arrive before the end of summer.

Withings has opened US sales of BodyFit through its own website. This is a new smart scale priced at $279.95 that sits between its simpler Body Smart models and the more advanced Body Scan range. What makes it stand out is proper segmental body composition tracking, with separate readings for arms, legs, torso and abdomen instead of the usual whole-body estimate.

This is the part most scales get wrong

Most smart scales still work the same way. You step on them barefoot, they send a signal through your lower body, and then software makes its best guess about the rest. It is useful, but only to a point.

BodyFit tries to do something more serious. The retractable handle lets the current travel through the full body, including the upper half, so the scale can track each limb and your trunk independently. That is a much better way to spot muscle imbalances, uneven fat loss or recovery issues after injury.

Withings says the system reaches 99% correlation with DEXA scans for fat mass results, which is about as strong a marketing claim as you can make in this category. It uses multifrequency BIS technology with eight electrodes and 13 frequencies up to 800 kHz, so this is clearly built to be more than a casual wellness gadget.

The scale also tracks things like visceral fat, basal metabolic rate, vascular age, pulse wave velocity and standing heart rate. The full scan takes about 20 seconds, so it is still quick enough for everyday use and not something that feels like a chore.

Where it sits next to Body Scan 2

This launch is more interesting because Withings has also been talking about Body Scan 2. This device picked up a CES 2026 Innovation Award and is positioned as the company’s cardiometabolic flagship.

That device goes much further than body composition. It is built around heart health, cardiovascular risk and long-term longevity tracking, with Withings describing it more like a checkup machine for your bathroom. It is meant to give users a broader picture of where their health is heading, not just whether their latest training block is working.

I found the same with the original Body Scan when I reviewed it. It felt less like a scale and more like a full health station. The retractable handle was a big part of that, helping it deliver much richer data than a standard smart scale.

BodyFit takes a similar but simpler route. It keeps the segmental body composition side of things, but leaves out the more medical-style focus and long-term cardiovascular checks.

US first, Europe next

The first batch is now rolling out to the US. Those living there can buy the scale. Europe should follow soon.

The company specifically points to the rapid growth of GLP-1 use in the US as one reason for that priority. That makes sense. As more people use GLP-1 medications for weight loss, there is more interest in tracking what is actually being lost. Weight alone does not tell you much if muscle mass is dropping too fast. A scale that can separate fat loss from muscle loss becomes a lot more useful in that situation.

That may end up being the strongest reason BodyFit exists at all. It is not trying to be the fanciest scale Withings has ever made. It is trying to be the one many people will want to buy.

Check it out on the company’s website.

Samsung and Withings have announced a partnership that lets Galaxy Watch data and Withings health data move between their apps. Samsung Health can pull in weight, body fat percentage and BMI from Withings devices, while Galaxy Watch step data can show up inside the Withings app.

What is actually new

The public announcement is mainly about bringing more attention to a connection that sits on top of Android’s existing Health Connect setup. Samsung Health has supported Health Connect for a while, and Withings already had Android support paths for sharing data with other health apps.

The difference now is that Samsung and Withings are promoting the link directly. Samsung is also attaching a US offer to it, with eligible Galaxy Watch buyers able to receive a Withings Body Smart scale.

But make no mistake. This is not a full merger of every Samsung and Withings health metric. It is a targeted sync around activity and body measurements.

Why this is useful

The obvious pairing is Galaxy Watch plus a Withings scale. The watch tracks steps through the day, while the scale adds weight and body composition readings at home. The French outfit has the best smart scales on the market.

There are limits, though. Heart rate and sleep are both supported by Samsung Health and Health Connect at a technical level, but the public Samsung and Withings material does not confirm that those metrics are part of this new cross-sync. The same goes for blood pressure, even though Withings sells blood pressure monitors and Health Connect supports blood pressure records.

Health Connect is doing the quiet work

The likely flow is not Galaxy Watch talking directly to the Withings app. It is more likely Galaxy Watch data moving into Samsung Health on the phone, then through Health Connect, then into Withings. Withings data follows the same kind of route back toward Samsung Health.

That is useful because Health Connect gives Android users a central place to manage permissions. It also means users can choose which apps can read or write certain health records, instead of handing over everything at once.

There is still some friction. Users need the right app versions, Health Connect permissions need to be enabled and older Android phones may require the separate Health Connect app. Watch data may also depend on when the Galaxy Watch syncs back to the phone.

Why Samsung and Withings both want it

For Samsung, the partnership makes Samsung Health look more complete without the company having to build every health device itself. Galaxy Watch already gives the company daily activity data, but a scale is still the better tool for weight and body composition trends.

For Withings, the benefit is access to Samsung’s smartwatch audience. If Galaxy Watch step data can feed into the Withings app, the app becomes more useful to people who may own a Withings scale but wear a Samsung watch.

There is also a service angle here. Both companies benefit if users keep returning to their health apps, checking trends and connecting more devices. That can support longer-term engagement and, potentially, paid health features around the data.

Source: Samsung, own research

Withings has opened a BodyScan 2 Insider Program in Europe, giving 500 users early access to the final production hardware before the wider launch. The program started today and runs through June, with firmware updates planned during that period to unlock features and refine performance.

Selected users will be able to buy BodyScan 2 weeks ahead of the global release. They will also be asked to share feedback through surveys and may join 30 minute calls with Withings’ Product and Marketing teams.

The company says participants who complete at least 80 percent of the surveys will receive an exclusive reward. The program is Europe only for now, although Withings says BodyScan 2 will soon be available in the US as well. If you want in, you can apply via this link.

BodyScan 2 is moving closer to launch

The company says participants will receive final, production ready hardware, so this does not appear to be a prototype trial. The remaining work seems to be around firmware, feature activation and real world feedback before the wider rollout.

BodyScan 2 was announced earlier this year as Withings’ next flagship health scale. It is designed to go beyond weight and body composition, with a 90 second scan and a wider set of health metrics.

That includes cardiovascular and metabolic tracking, along with longer term trend features such as Health Trajectory. The device continues the idea of a smart scale as a home health station rather than just a weight tracker.

Early users may shape the final experience

The Insider Program should help Withings clean up the final experience before launch. That probably means checking how reliably the scans work, how clearly the app explains results and whether the firmware behaves properly in daily use.

That is important because BodyScan 2 is trying to do a lot. More metrics only help if users understand what changed and what it means over time. Withings will need the software layer to be as clear as the hardware pitch.

The 500 person limit also keeps the rollout controlled. Withings gets real feedback from engaged users, while buyers get the device before everyone else. It is a practical middle step before the global launch.

A wider release now looks close

Withings previously said BodyScan 2 would arrive in 2026, and this Insider Program suggests the launch window is now tightening. Europe gets the first early access route, while the US is expected to follow soon.

The product still needs to prove that users want this much health tracking from a scale. But the direction is clear. Withings is pushing BodyScan 2 as a more complete home health device, and this early access program looks like the final test before it lands properly.

Withings appears to be getting ready to launch a new smart scale called BodyFit. A teaser page, backed by a trademark filing we found, points to a device focused on full-body mapping and more precise body analysis.

The company has set up a dedicated landing page for the product, simply titled “Withings BodyFit”, with the tagline “Full-body mapping. Ultimate precision.” Alongside that is a sign-up form inviting visitors to register to be among the first to hear more, which usually suggests a launch is not too far away.

A stronger fitness angle for Withings

The more interesting part here is the wording. Withings already offers some of the most advanced smart scales on the market, particularly the Body Scan which we reviewed a couple of years ago. It can assess body composition across different regions using its retractable handle.

What’s worth noting is that Withings did tease Body Scan 2 at CES 2026 in January. But this teaser seems to be a distinct product.

The name “BodyFit” leans mmore toward training, body recomposition and muscle tracking than general wellness. That suggests this could be a scale built with more active users in mind, people focused on muscle gain, fat loss, symmetry between limbs and longer-term fitness progress rather than just overall weight.

The phrase “full-body mapping” also hints at continuation of the detailed segmental analysis we have seen so far. If Withings is improving the precision of arm, leg and torso readings, this could make the device appealing to gym goers and athletes who want to track how their body changes over time.

Trademark filing adds weight to the leak

What makes this more than just a teaser is the trademark trail behind it. We dug up a UK filing for “Withings BodyFit” quoted under reference UK00004344990. That strongly suggests this is a distinct product name the company intends to use commercially, rather than a temporary landing page concept or internal codename.

When a live teaser page and trademark filing show up together, it is usually a solid sign that an official announcement is getting close. The real question is whether the company introduces something genuinely new around muscle imbalance detection, better athlete modes or more advanced progress analytics in the app.

Either way, this is shaping up to be an interesting launch. Withings is already the benchmark in smart scales, so it will be worth seeing which direction the company takes with BodyFit.

This article originally appeared on Gadgets & Wearables, the first media outlet to report the story.

Sources: Withings, Trademarkia

Update 9/4/2024

Withings has posted the following on a Reddit forum:

Hey there!

We love the excitement and curiosity around this

BodyFit and BodyScan 2 are two separate products with different purposes and audiences.

BodyScan 2 remains our flagship—introduced at CES 2026, where it won a CES Innovation Award—while BodyFit is something new we’re adding to the lineup.

We know there isn’t much information out there just yet, but more details will be shared very soon.

Stay tuned for more exciting news!!

Have a great day!

Withings users now have a new way to access their health data, one that skips the app entirely and routes everything through AI. A new open source MCP server connects Withings devices to Claude, allowing users to query their metrics in plain English.

The idea is simple on the surface. Instead of scrolling through charts in the Withings app, you just ask questions. The AI pulls in your data and responds with analysis. That includes sleep stages, weight trends, ECG readings, blood pressure, activity levels and more.

What the MCP server actually does

The MCP server basically sits between your Withings account and Claude and links the two together. Once you connect it, the AI gets read only access to your data through a secure login. Your login details are not shared with the AI itself, the server handles that part and only passes along the data when you actually ask for it.

Behind the scenes, it runs on something called the Model Context Protocol. That is just a standard for letting AI plug into external data sources in a clean way. In simple terms, it turns your health data into something you can chat with.

That changes the whole experience a bit. You are not digging through charts anymore. You just ask questions. How has my sleep been this month, is my resting heart rate going up, am I actually making progress with my weight. The AI pulls everything together and gives you a straight answer. At least, that’s the idea.

A wide range of data in one place

The breadth of supported data is wide. Pretty much anything that syncs to your Withings account is accessible. That includes smart scales, hybrid watches, sleep tracking mats and blood pressure monitors.

Sleep data goes beyond simple duration. You can dig into light, deep and REM stages, heart rate during the night, breathing disturbances and snoring detection. On the body composition side, it pulls in weight, fat percentage, muscle mass and other metrics tied to connected scales.

Heart health data is also part of the mix. ECG readings, atrial fibrillation detection results, pulse wave velocity and blood pressure measurements are all available for analysis. Activity data rounds things out with steps, calories, elevation and workout summaries.

It is not that this data was hidden before. The difference is how it is accessed. The AI layer brings everything together and makes it easier to explore without jumping between screens.

Privacy, control and the open source angle

Now let’s not forget, Withings already has its own AI layer called “Withings Intelligence,” built into the Withings app. But this is part of their subscription tier and still in beta. So if you are not on the pair tier, this gives you an alternative.

The project is open source. Which means the more tech savvy can inspect the code and even run the server if they want full control over how your data is handled.

For the rest of us, the hosted version is more convenient. It uses encrypted tokens and avoids storing personal health data beyond what is needed for an active session. Access can be revoked at any time through your Withings account.

Still, it introduces a third party into a sensitive data flow. Even with safeguards in place, this is not the same as staying entirely within the official ecosystem. So that’s something to keep in mind.

Garmin pushed a record 61 wearable devices or hardware variants through the FCC in 2025, while Fitbit did not file a single one. Step back across fifteen years of FCC data and the gap between brands becomes obvious, from Garmin’s nonstop hardware churn to Zepp Health’s bursts and the slower rhythm of Polar Suunto and Withings.

What FCC filings actually show

Let’s make something clear at the outset – FCC registrations do not necessarily equal product launches. They show how often a company pushes radio hardware through the US regulator, which sometimes means new boards, antennas, sensors or regional variants. One watch can generate several filings. Some experiments never reach retail at all.

Look at this as a proxy for hardware activity rather than a clean device count. Over a long period that proxy still tells a useful story, especially when you compare several brands side by side.

Essential reading: Upcoming smartwatches & health tech to expect in 2026

The table below sums up FCC registrations for Garmin, Polar, Suunto, Zepp Health, Withings and Fitbit from 2010 through 2025. We have not included Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi and a few other names in this list, as they simply have too many FCC filings. And most of them have nothing to do with wearable tech.

class="mtr-td-tag">
0

Even as a simple table you can already see very different personalities. Garmin keeps a high baseline then surges at the end of the period. Zepp Health fires in bursts. Polar Suunto and Withings barely move by comparison. Fitbit has slowly faded out.

So what’s behind these figures?

Garmin keeps the hardware engine running hot

Let’s start with Garmin. The company never really takes its foot off the gas. It starts the decade with mid teens filings, jumps into the 30s, sits in the 40s and 50s for several years, then peaks at 61 in 2025. Even the “quiet” years like 2018 and 2024 still sit in the mid to high thirties.

That pattern fits what readers see in shops. Garmin runs a wide portfolio across running, outdoor, aviation, marine and lifestyle. Under the surface this table suggests constant board spins, antenna tweaks and parallel projects. Some of that work becomes Fenix, Forerunner, Venu or Instinct variants. Some likely dies on the bench.

But you can be sure one thing. With Garmin, there is always something in the pipeline. Right now, the leaks point to the CIRQA band to launch in the near future. But make no mistake – there will be plenty of other devices in 2026.

Zepp Health moves in sharp bursts

Zepp Health plays a different game. It stays fairly modest early on, then spikes to 19 filings in 2020, hits 10 in both 2022 and 2023, dips again, then climbs to 9 in 2025.

This rhythm looks more like platform pushes than steady chipping away. When Zepp Health has a new architecture, radio platform or product wave, it seems to shove a batch of hardware through the FCC at once. That lines up with the way the company often launches several related wearables around the same time, across bands, watches and more rugged models.

Granted, Zepp Health has faced some criticism in earlier years for dishing out too many watch models. Perhaps that is the reason it has scaled back, focusing more on perfecting its software. Now it seems to have settled into a nice rhythm.

Polar Suunto and Withings stay conservative

Polar rarely climbs above four filings in any year. Suunto lives in a similar band, although it nudges up to four registrations in 2025, which hints at a bit more activity after a quieter stretch. Withings stays in low single digits the whole way, with a small bump in 2014 and 2016.

You can read that as a reflection of strategy. These brands focus on tighter lineups and slower refresh cycles. They seem to file when they have to, not because they want to keep a big experimental backlog alive. That approach trims risk, although it also leaves less room for surprise hardware.

For fans of these ecosystems the table sets expectations. You get fewer launches and a slower rhythm, but the devices that do appear usually sit in the catalogue for a while.

Fitbit’s long fade shows up very clearly

Fitbit tells a familiar story in numbers. It had a decent run through the mid 2010s, peaked at five registrations in 2019, then activity starts to sag. The early 2020s drop to three or four filings per year. By 2024 Fitbit sits at a single registration in this table, then it hits zero in 2025.

The company has hinted we should see a non-zero number in 2026. Let’s see if this pans out.

If you feel like Fitbit has pulled back on hardware, the statistics back that up. FCC work no longer runs at the pace that defined the pre acquisition era. Effort now leans more toward software integration inside the broader Google stack and less toward constant new radios in new shells.

For a reader thinking about long term platform choice, that matters. The table does not say anything about software support, but it does hint at where future devices are more likely to come from.

How you can actually use this info

Taken one device at a time, FCC leaks are fun but chaotic. Step back and look at fifteen years of filings and they start to behave. Garmin keeps filing, which usually means more hardware in more corners of the lineup. Zepp Health has worked in bursts in some years, but has now settled into a solid rhythm. Polar, Suunto and Withings plod along at their own pace. Fitbit looks a lot less eager than it once did.

This is not a crystal ball, but it works well as a pressure gauge. When filings ramp up, something is usually cooking. When a line stays flat for years, the launch calendar tends to thin out and the brand fades into the background rather than pushing the category forward.

Heda is a new open-source dashboard gaining attention on Reddit for how it handles health data from the Withings ecosystem. Built by a user frustrated with the limitations of the official app, it turns ZIP file exports into a offline dashboard focused on long-term trends.

Just yesterday we wrote about an open-source app for users of the Oura Ring. Today another similar app has popped up. This time for Withings.

The developer shared a demo and invited feedback. Many users were quick to test it with their own data and post screenshots showing steep improvements in readability compared to the native Withings app.

The difference is clear. Where Withings focuses on short-term summaries and calendar views, Heda stretches the timeline. You can scroll back months or even a full year to see how sleep, weight and activity evolved across different life phases. The interface adds support for event markers, so you can label periods like injury, vacation or new routines to give context to what changed and when.

ZIP in, charts out

There’s no account to create and no syncing involved. The tool runs entirely inside the browser using IndexedDB, meaning the ZIP archive you upload from Withings stays local. That approach keeps the process simple and private. Just download your archive from Withings, upload it into Heda, and explore the visualisations.

It handles steps, weight and sleep data, smoothing the results with rolling averages. The dashboard also highlights your averages and allows period comparison. You can use it to see what impact a stressful project had on your steps, how weight responded to a rehab period, or whether sleep improved after a shift in bedtime.

Designed for long-term interpretation

Heda’s charts don’t just mirror what you already get in the Withings app. They extend it. The step graph includes a 7-day average with event overlays, which makes it easier to spot true drops or gains. Weight is presented with smoothing and comparison ranges. Sleep is displayed by duration and time of night, exposing patterns that might otherwise be missed.

Everything is built using Apache ECharts and renders quickly, even with large datasets. For many users the key appeal is that Heda shows trends rather than isolated numbers. It helps connect the dots between behavior and outcomes over time.

Still a work in progress

The project is open source and already has a GitHub repository. The developer has flagged that parts of the code were written or refined using generative AI, though all outputs are manually reviewed. There’s also a fake ZIP file if you want to try it before uploading your own.

At this stage, it only supports Withings exports, but the structure leaves room for future expansion. Whether or not that happens remains to be seen. While Heda processes everything locally in your browser and no data is uploaded to a server, users should always be cautious when handling personal health records, even with open-source tools.
