Withings starts rollout of BeamO health multiscope
Withings BeamO is finally here—at least if you’re in Europe. The long-awaited 4-in-1 health monitoring gadget quietly became available for purchase today.
A real-world tricorder, minus the warp drive
When Withings first revealed BeamO ahead of CES 2024, comparisons to the Star Trek tricorder came thick and fast. And it’s not hard to see why. BeamO takes on the ambitious task of merging several types of health assessments into one palm-sized device. It doesn’t teleport data across galaxies, but it does give users a quick and relatively easy way to check up on key vitals in under a minute.
At its core, BeamO combines a thermometer, ECG, pulse oximeter, and stethoscope. This turns what would typically be a visit to the clinic into something you can manage at home or even while traveling. Withings isn’t trying to reinvent the medical wheel here—it’s just trying to make it more convenient and accessible.

How it works and what it measures
BeamO collects data using a blend of sensors—PPG and electrodes for heart-related metrics, infrared tech for non-contact temperature readings, and a Piezoelectric disc that powers its stethoscope function. The Piezo disc is there to capture chest and back sounds. That includes the subtleties of lung airflow and heartbeats, which are then available for real-time listening.

You can listen yourself, or stream the audio to a physician during a telehealth call. This last part adds a layer of practical use that pushes it just slightly beyond the realm of a personal gadget. It becomes something you can actively use during remote consultations.
All this data flows into the Withings Health app, the same app used for its watches, smart scales, and sleep sensors. Which means BeamO works within an ecosystem many Withings users are already familiar with. It supports multi-user profiles, medication reminders, and more.
Timing, delays, and what’s next
Originally planned for a summer 2024 launch, BeamO ran into some delays. By the time IFA rolled around in September, Withings was still showing off the device and saying it would see a global release sometime in Spring 2025.
That now seems likely, especially since the FCC approval was already secured in 2024. Europe is the test ground. The rest of the world, particularly the US, may not have to wait much longer. You can check it out on the Withings website.
