Amazfit GTS/GTR app update brings customisable watch faces
A new Amazfit GTS and GTR update has started making its rounds. The main new feature is customisable watch faces.

We recently reviewed the Amazfit GTS and Amazfit GTR. Both are great looking devices that churn out a plethora of fitness stats. Probably not a replacement for a fully fledged sports watch, they are a solid choice for those looking for a decent smartwatch that also covers fitness essentials.
Amazfit Watch app updates are coming out thick and fast. In early November we saw a version that slapped on more data in Workout Results, a horizontal view of charts, a fix for notifications and more. Another iteration followed a few weeks later. This one added PAI, a value that replaces step count with a heart-rate derived indicator of daily activity.
Android version 3.5.0 has started rolling out in a number of countries. We are yet to see it in the US or most European countries but this will likely come soon. Hopefully an iOS version will follow, as well.
The most notable change with the new software is the ability to add custom watch faces to GTS and GTR. Once you update, you’ll notice a new “Custom” option next to “Online Watch Faces” in the Amazfit app.
Clicking on “change the watch face background” will allow you to choose an image from an existing or new camera image. Tap on “Done” to see a preview of your artwork in all its glory. Then simply sync your watch with the app. Granted, the customisation functionality is limited to changing the background image, but it does allow you to personalise a number of different watch face options.
This certainly sounds like a useful addition to the Amazfit GTS and GTR lineup. All things considered, both of these deliver a lot for the price. Especially if you’re looking for an attractive fitness watch and don’t want to be bothered with charging often.
GTR has been available on Amazon for a couple of months, now. It’s only in the past couple of weeks that Amazfit GTS has also been made available for purchase. Prices on Amazfit smartwatches have been slashed for the holiday period. This includes the Amazfit Verge and Amazfit GTR.
