The Honor Band 6 is now available for purchase globally

Honor Band 6 with a big screen display and plethora of fitness features has received a global launch today. It comes with a 49.9 price tag and will be available for purchase from March 28th.

Many prefer the Honor Band over Mi Bands because of how they are designed. The variant in 2019 brought an SpO2 sensor, along with the ability to monitor fatigue and listlessness, alert to poor sleep and even detect hypoxemia dizziness.

We also saw Band 5i over the past year, an iterative refresh of Band 5. This is a more budget friendly version that comes with a slightly larger display, shorter battery life and no NFC. An important change is the way you recharge the band. Honor Band 5I can be plugged directly into a USB-A charging port, no cables needed.

Honor Band 6 was was originally expected during the summer. However, it seems the coronavirus situation delayed things. In the end the wearable launched in November in its local market. The wearable received its international debut at CES 2021 and is now available for purchase beyond its local market of China.

The device comes with a full-screen experience. In other words, the screen occupies almost the entire surface area of the main module. The previous version had a 0.95-inch AMOLED touchscreen display with a 240 x 120 resolution. The new one has a much larger 1.47 inch with a resolution of 194 x 368 pixels. Protecting this is 2.5D glass. In a sense, it comes across similar to the Honor Watch ES, but the strap is thinner so it looks more like a fitness band.

A huge display allows you to view more information which improves convenience of use. A welcome change, most would agree.

Another innovation is that you can interact with the thing via gesture navigation. This is technology that has already been introduced on some smartphones. Additionally, there’s the touch display for navigation and a single physical button which wakes up the tracker.

The actual dimensions of the 5 ATM rated (waterproof up to 50-meter depths) device are 43 x 25.4 x 11.45mm. The weight is only 18 grams.

Smart functionality includes a voice assistant, music control, notifications and an NFC chip for contactless payments. This all taps into Bluetooth 5.0 support.

Battery life is pretty decent. The 180mAh lithium ion battery can keep everything going for up to two weeks. A 10 minute charge is all it takes to keep it going for a full three hours.

Price and availability

All things considered, the Honor Band 6 looks to be a nice fitness band. The problem with lots of similar devices is the small display. Honor Band 6 goes a long way to resolving this. It actually blurs the lines between fitness bands and smartwatches when it comes to screen quality and size.
