Understanding Samsung’s Energy Score feature
Samsung has joined the ranks of other wearable tech companies with its new Energy Score feature. This innovative tool aims to provide users with a daily snapshot of their body’s readiness, combining various health factors into a single, easy-to-understand score. In this article, I explore what Energy Score is, how it is calculated, and which devices support this feature.
What is Energy Score?
Energy Score is Samsung’s latest addition to its health tracking capabilities, designed to enhance users’ awareness of how their health influences daily life. The feature provides a daily score ranging from 1 to 100, indicating your body’s readiness for the day ahead. The higher the score, the more recovered you are. Each morning, users can check their Energy Score to gauge their physical state.
The feature is very similar to Garmin’s Body Battery and Recovery Score metrics. Many other wearable brands also offer this type of information. It provides you with a holistic view of your health, helping you make informed decisions about your daily activities. Should you train hard or skip a day? Look at your Energy score to help you decide.
How is Energy Score calculated?
Samsung’s Energy Score takes into account several key health metrics to provide an assessment of your body’s condition. This includes:
- Sleep Time Average
- Sleep Time Consistency
- Bed/Wake Time Consistency
- Sleep Timing
- Previous Day Activity
- Sleeping Heart Rate
- Heart Rate Variability
The Energy Score feature not only provides an overall score but also offers a detailed breakdown of each factor, allowing users to identify specific areas for improvement. Additionally, users receive a personalized paragraph explaining their score and suggesting areas to focus on, such as improving sleep time consistency or adjusting bed/wake times.

To help users track their progress, the Samsung Health app displays a timeline showing how your Energy Score has changed over time. This visual representation will let you know at a glance whether you are improving or not over time.
Which devices have the Energy Score feature?
Samsung is rolling out the Energy Score feature to a range of its latest devices, as well as some older models through software updates. The following Samsung Galaxy Watches and devices will have access to Energy Score:
- Samsung Galaxy Ring
- Samsung Galaxy Watch 7
- Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra
- Samsung Galaxy Watch FE
- Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 and 6 Classic
- Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 and 5 Pro
- Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and 4 Classic
So basically, Galaxy Watch 4 and above.
It’s important to note that there are some additional requirements to use the Energy Score feature. Users need a Samsung smartphone with Galaxy AI capabilities (Galaxy S22 or later), the Samsung Health app installed, and a Samsung account.
Look, Samsung might be a bit late to the party with this one, but hey, they showed up and that’s what counts. Sure, other brands have been doing this for a while, but now Samsung users can join in on the fun. Energy Score is a pretty nifty tool to have in your back pocket. Check it each morning to get an understanding of your body’s readiness to face the day.
