Huawei has unveiled a firmware update for its popular Watch Fit 3, introducing a bunch of new features. Software, version 4.2.0.169, weighs in at 61.81 MB and has started rolling out to users. This is the second update for the device since its launch in May.
The previous software refresh was minor. It consisted of enhanced calling experience in certain situations, improvements to some user interfaces, and increased overall stability. Now we are getting a more notable upgrade.
One of the most notable additions is a new calculator app, allowing users to perform basic arithmetic operations directly on their wrist. You are not going to solve any complex math problems with it but it looks like a useful feature for everyday computations on the go.
Next up are Petal Maps. This addition enables users to receive navigation data on their watch, synced from a connected Huawei smartphone. However, it’s worth noting that this feature is not supported when the watch is paired with a third-party operating system, potentially limiting its availability for some users.
The update also expands the watch’s alarm capabilities, now allowing users to set up to 40 different alarms. That should be more than enough for everyone, catering to users with complex scheduling needs or those who prefer to set multiple reminders throughout the day.
Outdoor fitness buffs will appreciate the optimized data display for outdoor workouts, although Huawei has not provided specific details on these improvements. The company has also refined the appearance of some user interface elements, promising a more polished look for the device.
Other enhancements include a new notification system that alerts users when a system update has been completed, and general optimizations to improve system stability in certain situations.
Rolling out gradually
While the update brings welcome new features, it’s currently unclear whether it’s available to all Huawei Watch Fit 3 users worldwide. As usual, the rollout is in stages, with some regions receiving the update before others.
