Ultrahuman Ring Air gets respiratory rate & workout detection

New firmware for Ultrahuman Ring Air slaps on nocturnal respiratory rate tracking, along with auto workout detection. This is one of a plethora of updates we have seen for the device in recent months.

The company is a recent entrant to the smart ring space but it has in this short time made a name for itself. Ring Air is a pretty good device, but what impresses more are some of its original features such has Caffeine Window, Circadiam Rhythm Tracking and more.

New features

This latest firmare update, version 2.43.7, for Ring Air brings three notable capabilities.

First, users can now benefit from respiratory rate monitoring during sleep. This feature provides valuable insights into respiratory health by tracking nocturnal breathing patterns, potentially helping users identify any concerning deviations. These could be an indicator that you are coming down with a bug, or are simply fatigued.

Secondly, the Ring Air now offers automatic workout detection. This feature uses advanced algorithms to recognize and log various physical activities, including running and cycling, without manual input from the user.

While this is certainly a useful addition, it’s worth noting that many users, myself included, would find even greater value in improved heart rate accuracy during high-intensity exercises – an area where most smart rings, including the Ring Air, have historically struggled. Having said that, the Amazfit Helio has shown that accurate heart rate tracking during intense workouts is possible.

Lastly, the update introduces revamped weekly reports. These now offer more detailed analytics and visualizations, allowing users to gain deeper insights into their health and fitness data.

Ultrahuman update

Final word

While the company has certainly impressed with its range of innovative features, these latest ones are of the more standard variant. But they do sound useful.

We’ve grown accustomed to lots of updates for the Ultrahuman Ring Air, In fact, it has only been about two weeks since the last update. That one brought the addition of PowerPlugs, a new app store for Ring AIR users. Plus it introduced Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) detection capability to the smart ring.
