Garmin Fenix 8: New details emerge from Best Buy representatives

As the summer heat intensifies, so does the anticipation for Garmin’s next flagship smartwatch series. Recent leaks from multiple sources have shed light on the upcoming Fenix 8 range. The latest comes from a couple of Best Buy representatives, who are leaving little to the imagination.

First off, a Reddit user’s interaction with a Best Buy Live Agent has seemingly confirmed the release date for the Fenix 8 series. The agent stated, “I’ve checked with all my possible options but unfortunately the product you’re looking to purchase is releasing on the 27th of August.” So this jives with previous information pointing to an official unveil next Tuesday.

Another chat with another Best Buy Sales agent corroborated this date. However, it’s worth noting that while this appears to be the official unveiling date, actual availability may lag by 10-14 days. This is typical for Garmin.

The second chat also confirms the sizing options and pricing that we reported on yesterday from a Ukrainian Garmin re-seller. The 43mm and 47mm AMOLED-packing Fenix 8 models are set to lighten your wallet by a cool $1,100. Got a thing for the 51mm behemoth? That’ll be $1,200, please.

This pricing strategy is pretty steep. It pits the Fenix 8 series against devices in the premium smartwatch category.

For the budget-conscious among us, there’s a Fenix 8 E model whispering sweet nothings at “only” $900. And if you’re into endurance (who isn’t these days?), the Enduro 3 is flexing at $1,200.

Remember, folks, this is all still in leak territory. But with Best Buy reps singing like canaries and Ukrainian websites joining the chorus, it leads us to believe the info can be trusted.

What interests us the most are the software improvements that will come with the new devices. Unfortunately, there has been zero information on this. So we’ll probably need to wait until Tuesday to learn about these. Hopefully, any innovative software features introduced will eventually be made available to owners holding on to older generation devices.
