Huawei Watch Ultimate Design Sapphire Gold arrives, priced at $3,315
Huawei has introduced a new smartwatch in the Chinese market. It goes with the catchy name – the Watch Ultimate Design Sapphire Gold – and a whopping price-tag that comes in at CNY 23,999 (approximately $3,315)! This is the company’s most expensive watch to date.
As you’ve probably guessed, we’re talking premium design here. An 18K gold-plated sapphire crystal bezel is adorned with 24K ion gold-plated characters. The titanium alloy bracelet, featuring intricate gold detailing, further emphasizes the device’s premium positioning. There is also a complimentary blue HNBR strap in the box.
Beneath its luxurious exterior, the Watch Ultimate Design Sapphire Gold packs a plethora of features. A 1.5-inch LTPO AMOLED display delivers crisp visuals, while an extensive sensor array provides comprehensive health monitoring. Users can track heart health through ECG capabilities, monitor environmental conditions with temperature sensors, and stay connected even in remote areas through two-way Beidou satellite messaging.
Huawei has engineered the watch to withstand extreme conditions, certifying it for diving up to 100 meters and ensuring functionality in temperatures ranging from -20°C to +45°C. The device supports multiple operating systems, including HarmonyOS, Android, and iOS.
Battery performance stands out as a key selling point, with the watch delivering up to 14 days of typical use. Additional features like Ultra-Wideband technology for automatic car unlocking helps to distinguish this device from competitors.
Other technical specifications reveal the watch’s impressive engineering. Measuring 48.5 mm × 48.5 mm × 13 mm, it accommodates wrist sizes between 140-210 mm and weighs approximately 79 grams. The device includes an comprehensive array of sensors: accelerometer, gyroscope, geomagnetic, optical heart rate, air pressure, temperature, ambient light, depth, and ECG monitoring. Connectivity options are also decent, supporting GNSS, NFC, Bluetooth 5.2, and two-way satellite messaging.

Huawei has currently limited the watch’s availability to the Chinese market. Previous luxury models from the company, such as the €2,999 Watch Ultimate Design Gold, have been available in European markets. This suggests potential international expansion.
Whether it makes sense to spend upwards of $3,000 on a smartwatch is debatable. Technology evolves rapidly, and within a few years, the device’s sensors and capabilities will be superseded by newer models. Having said that, there is obviously a market for this sort of thing. At this price, I personally would consider it – but only if it could also make coffee and do my taxes.
