Amazfit T-Rex 3 update 3.7.5.1 adds wrist gestures and map tweaks

Amazfit has released firmware version 3.7.5.1 for the T-Rex 3, and while the update is modest in size, it includes a mix of workout, mapping and notification improvements. The software refresh follows from the really big one about a month ago which slapped on Zepp OS 4.5.

Better data for elevation and diving sessions

One of the more practical changes, this time around, is the addition of mountain peak height information to the track page and the Map app. This could be helpful if you often train or hike in alpine terrain, although you’ll need to download the map resources beforehand.

Divers also get a bit of love with this update. In Outdoor and Indoor Freediving as well as Spearfishing modes, the watch can now show depth changes throughout the session.

The “Resume Later” function has also been tweaked to be a bit more power-conscious. Not an exciting change but something that may help prolog battery life.

More accurate swimming and a refined map interface

Amazfit says the heart rate algorithm for swimming has been improved to enhance accuracy. This remains one of the more challenging use cases for optical heart rate sensors, so any refinements here are worth noting. Early reports on social media are that it, indeed, is performing better.

There’s also a bit more polish in the Map app. You can now adjust the style and perspective, which should make it easier to view your route the way you prefer.

Notification upgrades and new AOD behavior

The Notification Center now supports viewing CAPTCHA messages received from your phone. It’s a niche feature, that might save time when you’re dealing with security checks.

Another small addition is the option to turn your wrist to expand new message notifications. This has to be enabled manually by heading to System Settings, then Notifications, and toggling on “Turn Wrist to Show Full Notification.”

Finally, the Always-On Display has been improved to show status points on the dial. That means a bit more context at a glance, without needing to wake the watch fully.

The update is rolling out now so should hopefully reach everyone soon. It is around 15MB in size. You can see the full change-log in the screen-shots below.
