Leaked video shows Meta Ray-Ban display glasses before Connect 2025

Meta’s upcoming Ray-Ban smart glasses have leaked ahead of the Connect 2025 keynote. A now-removed video briefly posted to Meta’s YouTube channel gave a full look at the updated lineup, including a version with a built-in display.

A closer look at the glasses

As revealed by UploadVR, this new model keeps the familiar Ray-Ban aesthetic, but introduces a heads-up display visible to the right eye only. The design is noticeably bulkier than the standard Ray-Ban Meta glasses, particularly around the temples. According to earlier firmware leaks, this display model weighs around 70 grams, compared to 50 grams for the standard version.

Functionality seems focused around navigation, messaging and voice interaction. In the video, the HUD shows turn-by-turn walking directions, real-time translation of foreign text and responses triggered by Meta AI. This isn’t a full AR experience, and it’s more limited in scope than Meta’s earlier Orion prototype, which was teased with far more immersive capabilities.

Neural wristband returns

Perhaps the most intriguing element is the sEMG wristband shown alongside the HUD glasses. It looks like a more refined version of Meta’s earlier “Neural” wristband, which was originally tied to Orion. In this latest video, it is used to swipe out individual letters on a table surface. It’s a more subtle input method than voice and could make quick replies or commands feel more tactile.

The wristband likely uses electrical signals from the forearm to detect finger movements. This approach has been in Meta’s pipeline for several years, and now seems close to shipping as part of a consumer product. While we still don’t know if it will be bundled with the HUD glasses or sold separately, the pairing makes sense.

Meta Glasses

Multiple smart glasses incoming

The video didn’t just show the HUD model. It also included the rest of Meta’s upcoming lineup. That includes the regular Ray-Ban Meta glasses, the Oakley Meta HSTN (which was recently launched), along with another Oakley-branded model called the Meta Sphaera. That one appears to be designed with eye protection in mind and includes a centrally placed camera.

The HUD glasses are labeled “Meta Ray-Ban Display,” marking a clear distinction from the others in the range. The fact they retain the Ray-Ban branding could help Meta reach a broader audience, bridging style with function in a way its previous prototypes never did.

Launch timing and pricing

The sudden appearance of this video suggests the launch might be closer than expected. Previous reports had pegged Meta’s display glasses for 2026, but the timing of this leak strongly hints at a Connect 2025 reveal. The main keynote is scheduled for Wednesday at 5pm PT, followed by a developer keynote Thursday morning.

As for pricing, earlier reports suggest the HUD glasses will start at $800. That puts them well above the standard Ray-Ban Meta glasses, but below more ambitious AR headsets. If Meta does announce them this week, we’ll likely get more details on availability, regional pricing and how the wristband ties into the full experience.
