Basis is an early player in the fitness wearables market and has developed a product, the Basis Health Tracker, that provides users with extensive data on various health and fitness metrics ranging from calorie expenditure to perspiration and skin temperature. Acquired by Intel in March 2014, Basis is now a part of Intel's New Device Group. In August 2016 the company announced it will no longer support the Peak watch due to overheating issues.
