Regulatory certifications unveil new Google Pixel Watch 3 details
Recent regulatory filings from Singapore’s IMDA and the U.S. FCC have provided additional insights into the upcoming Google Pixel Watch 3. They reveal new features and multiple model variants.
The cellular version of the Google Pixel Watch 3, identified by the model number GBDU9, has been spotted on Singapore’s IMDA certification website. According to the listing, the smartwatch will support several advanced connectivity features, including Ultra-wideband (UWB), Wi-Fi 6 (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax), and Bluetooth.
The inclusion of Ultra-wideband technology is particularly noteworthy. UWB is known for its precise location and tracking capabilities, often accurate to within a few centimeters. This technology could potentially allow users to locate their watch easily through the Find My Device app and might even serve as a car key for vehicles that support UWB-based access systems.
Meanwhile, FCC listings have revealed four different model numbers for the Pixel Watch 3: GBDU9, GG3HH, GRY0E, and GGE4J. Three of these models support Ultra-Wideband and 5 GHz Wi-Fi. The GBDU9 and GRY0E models support LTE connectivity, while the GG3HH and GGE4J models appear to be limited to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity.
A clearer picture on what to expect
Based on these certifications and previous leaks, we can piece together a clearer picture of what to expect from the Google Pixel Watch 3. The multiple variants will cater to different user needs. And with Wi-Fi 6 and UWB support, the Pixel Watch 3 is poised to offer faster and more reliable connections, as well as enhanced location services.
Previously leaked information reveals a possible larger “XL” variant with a 1.45-inch display, compared to the standard 1.2-inch screen. This could potentially offer improved battery life and visibility. Despite the potential for a larger model, the overall design language appears to remain consistent with previous generations.

While not explicitly mentioned in the certifications, it’s reasonable to expect continued focus on health tracking capabilities, possibly with new sensors or improved accuracy. Hopefully, Google (and Fitbit) have a surprise or two in store.
The certifications from IMDA and FCC indicate that a product launch is approaching. Typically, Google releases a new edition of the watch in early October, but we may see it earlier in 2024.
