Huawei Watch Fit 3 gets a fresh update with HarmonyOS 5

Huawei has rolled out the HarmonyOS 5.0 update for the Watch Fit 3. Amongst other changes it introduces a screenshot function and a new “Clock Tower” watch face.

The screenshot function allows users to capture visuals directly from the watch screen. This feature might be useful from time to time. For example for saving workout metrics, app interface displays, or other data shown on the device. Huawei says screenshots taken on the watch are automatically saved to the connected smartphone’s gallery, where they can be accessed or shared.

The “Clock Tower” watch face is another addition. It is pre-installed with the update. Its design offers a contemporary aesthetic, for those who like more options for personalizing the watch interface. Users can easily switch to this new face in the watch settings, complementing the existing lineup of designs already present on the Watch Fit 3.

Before diving into the update, make sure your Huawei Health app is up to date to avoid any hiccups. Keep the Bluetooth connection between your watch and phone steady during the process, as interruptions could cause issues. The update might take a few minutes as it comes in at over 73mb, and once it’s done, your watch will restart automatically to apply the changes.

As for availability, the update is rolling out gradually—only about 1% of devices will get it in the first day or two, and it could take up to eight weeks for everyone to receive it. So, hang tight if you don’t see it by the end of 2024!
