Garmin users face syncing issues across Connect & Strava

Garmin users are reporting widespread syncing problems. For the past 24 hours, uploads to Garmin Connect and Strava have either stalled, failed to appear or taken much longer than usual.

The issue seems to affect multiple services

It’s not limited to one product or app. Whether you’re on a Fenix, Forerunner or Edge, people are seeing the same error messages or simply watching their uploads hang.

No, it’s not the dreaded triangle of doom. But activity details are either not loading or appear hours after the session. Strava syncing is also inconsistent. In some cases, third-party services like RunMotion are also left waiting.

The problem seems to be intermittent, and that might be part of the reason for the confusion. Some users say their morning workouts showed up just fine, while later attempts failed completely. Others had to wait a few hours for uploads to go through. A few lucky ones said everything worked as expected.

Comments from Reddit users paint a picture of mild chaos. There are nervous posts from runners who thought they accidentally discarded their run, or cyclists who feared losing a new PR. One person shared they finally hit a 5K personal best and were panicking that the moment would vanish into the void. Fortunately, in most cases, the data eventually appeared.

Server status pages offer mixed signals

Garmin’s own Connect system status page didn’t show much at first. At the time of writing, some sections have just recently shifted from green to yellow, indicating partial degradation. Meanwhile, Down Detector has been showing a spike in user-reported issues since last night.

Right now the Garmin System Status page shows “Limited” for: activity details, activity uploads, Strava and third party sync.

There’s still no official statement from Garmin. However, several users speculate this could be tied to server maintenance or a backend update. Or Garmin might be upgrading their system in stages, possibly by region, as some UK users reported problems before those in North America.

What users can do

There isn’t much to fix on the user’s side. Restarting the watch or reinstalling the app will not help. For now, it’s mostly a waiting game. The data is still on the device, and it should eventually sync when the servers catch up. So whatever you do, don’t delete Garmin Connect or anything like that. Patience is your friend.

If you’re staring at a syncing screen or wondering where your badge went, you’re not alone. Garmin will likely iron this out without any user intervention.
