Huawei Watch GT 6 teaser highlights sports & endurance

Huawei has dropped its first video teaser for the Watch GT 6 series. The short clip showcases cycling, free diving, trail running, downhill skiing and golf, making it clear that this generation will lean heavily on sports tracking.

Sports remain the main theme

Now this is not entirely new. The GT 5 already supports a huge number of activities, But Huawei seems keen to sharpen the fitness message this year.

Golf, for instance, was previously a Pro-only feature, so its appearance in the teaser suggests a broader rollout. The launch countdown page also backs this up, with Huawei highlighting advanced outdoor sports, ultra-long battery life and improved positioning accuracy as the core selling points. So that gives some clues as to possible hardware upgrades.

A familiar package

Earlier leaks confirm the octagonal design of the GT 5 is sticking around, alongside the two size options of 41mm and 46mm. Expect AMOLED screens and polished materials once again, although Huawei has yet to detail the exact specs. What we do know is that the new Sunflower Positioning System will take over GPS duties, promising better accuracy on trails and in urban settings. HarmonyOS 5.1 is also on board, which should mean fresh interface tweaks and some new health tools.

Huawei’s promise of endurance is nothing new, but the teaser suggests it will double down on this with the GT 6. Battery life has always been a strength of the line, so it will be interesting to see if the new models can stretch things even further. There’s also curiosity around whether Huawei finally addresses gaps in payments, app support and advanced recovery insights, areas where rivals often lead.

The official unveiling happens on September 19 in Paris. Until then, Huawei is already teasing its sports-first approach, which may be enough to keep fitness-focused users watching closely. Probably, further teasers will follow in the coming days and weeks.
