First images of Huawei Watch Ultimate 2 surface ahead of launch
A set of images has revealed Huawei’s next flagship wearable, the Watch Ultimate 2. It looks like the device will land on September 19 at Huawei’s Paris launch event, right alongside the Watch GT 6 series.
The design looks familiar but new tech sits inside
From the front, the Watch Ultimate 2 doesn’t stray far from the original. The case size stays at 48.5 mm, the display appears unchanged, and even the materials look nearly identical. But the real upgrades are happening inside. Huawei seems to be banking on new battery technology and some hardware additions to justify the sequel.
The leaked images from WinFuture show a couple of unfamiliar sensors positioned on the right side of the case. There’s no word yet on what these do, but it suggests Huawei has something new planned in the health or environmental sensing department. This could tie in with earlier regulatory filings hinting at ultra-wideband and satellite SMS, though those features are still unconfirmed.

Battery life could get a big boost
One of the standout upgrades is expected to be battery-related. Huawei has been talking up its new “High-Silicon Stacked Batteries” and is now starting to roll them out across its watch lineup. The Watch GT 6 Pro is confirmed to use the tech, and it looks like the Ultimate 2 will as well. These new cells pack more power into the same space by increasing energy density by up to 37 percent. Huawei claims this could translate to as much as 65 percent more battery capacity in some cases.
The actual capacity for the Watch Ultimate 2 hasn’t leaked yet, but the presence of the stacked battery tech suggests the company is aiming to stretch usage time further than the current 14-days that you get on the first-gen model. That could be a key advantage in a segment where battery life still lags behind the more rugged crowd.

A watch built for extremes, again
If you missed the first generation, the original Huawei Watch Ultimate launched in 2023 with serious dive credentials. It’s rated to 100+ meter depths and supports freediving, scuba tracking, and ascent monitoring. There’s also ECG, arterial stiffness, dual-frequency GNSS, and a full set of sports modes. It was clearly Huawei’s attempt to rival the Apple Watch Ultra on ruggedness, if not necessarily on smart features.

Regulatory filings already confirm that the Watch Ultimate 2 will carry over the tough exterior. A TUV listing out of Germany shows IP68 and IP69 ratings, which means it’s not just waterproof but can also handle high-pressure water jets. The watch is also registered under model number MCH-AL00 on Malaysia’s SIRIM database, locking in international availability.

A premium tag and an Apple-sized target
It looks like Huawei will once again price this device at a premium. Word is the Watch Ultimate 2 will land at €899, the same as its predecessor. That puts it in direct competition with Apple’s Ultra line and likely well above most of the Wear OS crowd.
The overall formula hasn’t changed much. You still get a large AMOLED display, a durable frame, and Huawei’s custom operating system that favours battery life over third-party app support. The Ultimate 2 is clearly targeting people who want outdoor-ready hardware without buying into Apple or Garmin’s ecosystems.
The timing for all this lines up with Huawei’s upcoming event in Paris on September 19. The Watch GT 6 and GT 6 Pro are already confirmed, and now that images of the Ultimate 2 are out, it’s increasingly likely it will show up as part of that same presentation.
