Amazfit Helio Strap update adds tennis mode & improves BioCharge
Zepp Health is rolling out firmware version 3.3.6.1 for the Helio Strap. The update adds a tennis workout mode, overhauls the BioCharge and heart rate algorithms, and fixes issues with calorie duplication and phantom step counts.
Tennis mode joins the mix
The most visible addition is a dedicated tennis workout profile. It lets users properly log their matches and practice sessions through the Zepp Health app, with heart rate data from the Helio Strap feeding into the tracking. This adds to the band’s growing list of supported activities, even though it remains focused primarily on recovery and training readiness.
There’s also a small UI change inside the app. A new heart rate zone chart now appears in the workout section, making it easier to visualise intensity during sessions.
Fixes for calorie overcounting and step misfires
This version finally addresses the issue of inflated calorie totals during workouts. Some users had seen double-counting when syncing data across services. That’s now been fixed. Zepp Health also resolved a strange bug that caused step counts to appear during non-step-based activities like swimming and cycling. That glitch had been skewing totals for some users.
BioCharge and heart rate refinements
BioCharge has been a standout feature of the Helio Strap, but it hasn’t been perfect. This update includes an optimisation to the algorithm to prevent rapid overnight depletion and low scores immediately upon waking. It should now respond more naturally to how the body recovers overnight.
Zepp Health has also improved the heart rate model itself. The new version aims to fix inaccurate nighttime readings, which some users had flagged as consistently off compared to other devices.
The update weighs in at just 3.64MB and requires the Zepp Health app to be on version 9.13.0 or above. The company says other optimisations are included, although it doesn’t detail them.
Helio Strap is still one of the few screenless recovery bands without a subscription attached. That makes each software update more important. And Zepp Health has already pushed out several since launch, steadily fine-tuning the experience.
