Amazfit T-Rex 3 Pro 44mm adds Tactical Black option

The Amazfit T-Rex 3 Pro 44mm lineup has expanded in the US with the immediate availability of the Tactical Black version. While these new styles are ready to ship stateside, on the company’s website, availability in other regions like Europe remains tantalisingly close but technically out of stock.

New colours in the US

It has been a few weeks since the initial arrival of the compact T-Rex 3 Pro, and the lineup is finally filling out. In October, the initial launch gave us the Black Gold model. It is a fine look, but perhaps not for everyone. That was followed by the Black Gold option shortly after.

Now, the US Amazfit store has officially stocked the Tactical Black and Arctic Gold versions of the 44mm watch. This brings the smaller variant onto a level playing field with the larger 48mm model in terms of aesthetic choice.

The Tactical Black option is particularly important. Many people buy rugged watches for functional use in outdoor environments where you do not want something shiny on your wrist. The Black Gold has a certain flair, but the Tactical Black offers that muted, utilitarian vibe that defines this category.

If you are in two minds as to whether this watch is a good choice, make sure to read our hands-on review of the 48mm T-Rex 3 Pro. Also, it’s worth noting that there are sales currently on all Amazfit watches, including this model.

European availability

We are seeing a different story unfold across the Atlantic. If you check the regional Amazfit sites for Europe, you will see the new colour listed. The placeholder is there and the images are loaded. But the buy button is greyed out or marked as out of stock. This specific behavior usually indicates that the regional distribution centers are currently processing the inventory.

It is highly unlikely they would update the website framework if stock was months away. Companies generally do not clutter their storefronts with unavailable products unless a launch is imminent. If you are in Europe, you likely only have a short wait left. The logistics just need to catch up to the web team.

The size advantage

The appeal of this 44mm form factor cannot be overstated. For years, if you wanted a watch with sapphire glass, titanium, and offline maps, you had to strap a massive computer to your wrist. The 44mm T-Rex 3 Pro changes that dynamic. It brings those premium materials down to a size that works for daily wear in an office setting. You do not have to look like you are heading on an expedition just to check your notifications.

There are physical realities to consider with the smaller case. The 1.32-inch screen is sharp and readable. Zepp OS 5.0 handles the scaling well, so text remains legible. However, you do lose a bit of map visibility compared to the 1.5-inch display on the larger unit. The battery is also physically smaller. You drop from 700mAh to 640mAh. In real-world usage, this might mean charging every 10 to 12 days with heavy use instead of stretching it to two weeks. That is still excellent compared to the competition, but it is a reduction nonetheless.

One loose end remains in this launch cycle. We are still keeping a lookout for the special edition Helio Strap. There was an expectation that this accessory might drop soon. We are hoping to see it surface before the end of the year.
