WHOOP gets AI post-activity insights and smarter logging

WHOOP is adding voice and image sharing, AI-powered post-activity summaries and better auto-detection of workouts. The update also introduces support for new strain and recovery activities like bouldering, red light therapy and hot tub sessions.

New ways to share what WHOOP can’t measure

Wearables do a decent job of tracking movement and heart rate. But how you felt during a session, or what tools you used to recover, often get lost. WHOOP is now trying to close that gap.

You can now speak into the app to log how your body responded to a workout, describe pain or fatigue, or simply note what changed. These voice notes are converted into structured inputs that WHOOP’s system uses to personalise advice. If you’re nursing an injury or adjusting your training load, this gives the platform much better context.

The update also adds image-based logging. Snap a photo of a meal, an ice bath, compression gear or even gym equipment. WHOOP’s backend will process the image to detect relevant items and adjust recommendations accordingly. This is part of WHOOP’s push to make its insights feel more grounded in real life, not just metrics.

You now get instant feedback after workouts

The most tangible new feature is the AI-driven post-activity breakdown. As soon as you log a workout, WHOOP generates a summary of key metrics and explains what they mean. It flags whether the session was aligned with your goals, highlights trends and even offers specific advice for next time.

This integrates directly with WHOOP’s Health-span tracking. The aim is to tie individual workouts to your longer-term trajectory.

More activities and better detection

The latest app version adds a handful of new strain and recovery activities. Strain additions include bouldering, firefighting, racquetball, archery, skydiving and sport fishing. On the recovery side, you can now log red light therapy and hot tub sessions.

WHOOP has also tuned its activity detection model. It now surfaces more light or subtle activities that previously flew under the radar. This might result in a few surprise logs at first, but the goal is to build a more complete picture of your daily strain. Editing or correcting any misfires will help train the model further.

You should start seeing these updates surface in the app as they roll out. Most of the new features, like voice input, image sharing and post-activity insights, come through the app itself. But the upgraded auto-detection relies on a combination of the app update and new firmware on the WHOOP device. So if some parts haven’t appeared yet, they likely will once both updates are in place. Also, the updates are available regardless of which version of the device you have.
