The good news is that when it comes to the look and feel, both RingConn and Ultrahuman Ring Air have managed to strike a balance between aesthetics and functionality.
RingConn boasts a straightforward, functional design. Its outer-square, inner-circle design gives it an exclusive yet minimalistic look. Available in three metal colors – gold, silver, and black – it doesn’t try to be overly stylish but focuses on serving its purpose efficiently. Made from fighter jet grade Titanium reinforced with Tungsten Carbide Carbon coating for its outer shell, it promises resilience. At the moment it is only available in Black colour, but more colour options are coming soon.
As far as actual size, RingConn has a width of 7.8mm and thickness ranging around 2.6mm. Ultrahuman, on the other hand, is sightly broader at 8.1mm. Its thickness varies between 2.45mm to 2.8mm depending on the size.
Both devices are designed for all day wear. Weighing between 3 and 5 grams, the RingConn is discreet and comfortable. The Ultrahuman Ring Air, being slightly lighter, ranges between 2.4 to 3.6 grams depending on the ring size. However, this difference in weight is hardly noticeable when worn.
One thing worth emphasing is that we actually found RingConn more comfortable to wear. This is because it has rounded edges. Ultrahuman’s angular edges reduce comfort.
As far as water resistance, RingConn is designed to be robust against the elements with an IP68/5ATM rating, making it dustproof and waterproof up to 50 meters. Ultrahuman Ring Air also offers an impressive water resistance. In its case up to 100 meters, making it suitable for more intense water activities.
Sizing kit & fit
The rings look modern and can easily pass off as contemporary pieces of jewelry. To ensure a perfect fit, the companies provide a complimentary sizing kit. This thoughtful addition allows users to determine the appropriate fit from various options. A perfectly fitting ring not only ensures better comfort but also leads to more accurate tracking. It is crucial for the optimal functioning of the smart ring, given the plethora of sensors embedded within.
RingConn vs Ultrahuman Ring Air: Hardware
Moving below the surface, and once again there is little to separate these two devices.
The RingConn is notably equipped with a combination of infrared, red, and green sensors, complemented by temperature sensors. These integrated sensors are crucial in their role, diligently tracking a range of health metrics to provide users with insightful data about their well-being.
Similarly, Ultrahuman Ring Air features red LEDs specifically designed for heart rate monitoring and oxygen saturation measurements. Additionally, it incorporates green LEDs for further heart rate tracking. The ring also boasts an infrared Photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor, a non-contact medical-grade skin temperature sensor, along with a 6-axis motion sensor.
Both devices have internal memory which is good for a few days. They use Bluetooth for connectivity, ensuring a stable link with devices, and also boast EMF-Safe technology. RingConn is the only one of the two to boast a separate Airplane mode.
The RingConn boasts a commendable battery life, promising users up to 7 days of usage on a full charge, which is achieved in approximately 90 minutes. Adding to its appeal, especially for those constantly on the move, is its portable charging case, ensuring that the device is always powered up.
In contrast, the Ultrahuman Ring Air, while offering a slightly shorter battery life of up to 6 days, has the advantage of a quicker charging time, taking only 1.5 to 2 hours to fully charge. This smart ring is complemented by a USB-C charging dock, providing users with a seamless charging experience.
Now, having said this we need to add that a recent firmware update seems to have effected RingConn’s battery life. We noticed that the device in our possession now lasts between 3-4 days. Hopefully, the company will resolve this in a future software refresh and get the battery life up to where it was initially.

At their essence, both the RingConn and Ultrahuman Ring Air are crafted as all-encompassing health and wellness monitors. Their forte lies in recovery-related statistics, excelling particularly in areas like heart rate and heart rate variability. While the Ultrahuman Ring Air takes a leap ahead with its detailed Recovery metric, RingConn compensates with its unique stress metric, a feature absent in the Ultrahuman device.
Both rings offer a wide spectrum of data, encompassing detailed sleep analysis, from nap durations to the intricacies of deep, REM, and light sleep phases. They also monitor oxygen saturation and skin temperature.
In terms of software, we would give Ultrahuman a slight advantage. Its smartphone app is user-friendly, emphasising actionable insights derived from the data. RingConn’s app, though rich in data, could benefit from more direct insights.
Also, the Ultrahuman Ring Air boasts two interesting features you won’t find on RingConn. First is the “Circadian Phase Alignment,” a tool that aids users in synchronizing their daily activities with their natural circadian rhythms. By doing so, it promotes optimal energy levels, mood, and overall well-being. The second noteworthy feature is the “Stimulant Restriction Window.” This innovative function provides users with personalized recommendations on when to avoid stimulants like caffeine, ensuring they don’t interfere with sleep patterns or overall restfulness.
Accurate recovery-type statistics, not so accurate at high intensity exercise
Accuracy is paramount when it comes to health metrics. In our tests, comparing the rings against renowned brands like Whoop and Garmin, both devices proved reliable when it comes to recovery-type stats such as heart rate, HRV, etc. RingConn might have a slight advantage in precision, but both are commendable in this aspect. Also, it is worth mentioning that blood oxygen is currently in Beta for Ultrahuman.
The rings also provide additional metrics such as steps and calories, and their accuracy in these areas is decent. However, when it comes to exercise tracking, they fall short as compared to smartwatches. Ultrahuman is taking strides with its new Workout mode, albeit still in Beta and requiring more refinement. RingConn, too, has plans to roll out a similar feature in the coming days
And that is one more thing that is commendable when it comes to both companies. They are actively engaging with their user communities, and rolling out software updates and new features on a regular basis.
