Garmin adds Body Battery TrueUp to Vivosmart 5
Garmin has added Body Battery TrueUp support to the Vivosmart 5. This means you can wear it as a lightweight casual watch or sleep tracker and still keep your Body Battery readings synced with your main training device.
Body Battery TrueUp expands to more devices
Body Battery is Garmin’s way of showing how much energy you have based on a mix of heart rate variability, stress, activity and sleep data. The feature has been around for years, but until recently, it only worked properly if you wore the same device all the time. Switch to another watch or tracker and the Body Battery score could drop out of sync.
TrueUp changed that by going beyond Garmin’s standard activity syncing. Normally, a watch will share activity data like steps or workouts with Garmin Connect, but not necessarily the more dynamic metrics that update constantly in the background. With Body Battery TrueUp, those energy scores are also kept in sync across devices. For example, if you use the Index Sleep Monitor, its sleep data is sent to Garmin Connect and then factored into your Body Battery reading on your watch. Now, with Vivosmart 5 support, you can track sleep with the band at night and train with a larger watch during the day without losing continuity.

This is especially useful for people who switch devices depending on activity or comfort. A lightweight tracker is easier to sleep in, while a more advanced watch may be better suited for running or cycling. TrueUp ensures that your Body Battery reflects your full day, regardless of which device you are wearing at any given moment.
Which Garmin models support Body Battery TrueUp
The feature is available on a broad range of Garmin devices, spanning premium multi-sport, running, tactical and lifestyle lines. This includes the latest Fenix 8 (both AMOLED and Solar), Enduro 3, Tactix 8, Venu 3 and X1, Vivoactive 6, Lily 2, and the current Forerunner series from the entry-level 165 to the flagship 970. With the Vivosmart 5 now part of the list, even Garmin’s most compact tracker can maintain Body Battery continuity with your main training watch.
