Amazfit watches soon to get Rucking support
Zepp Health is finally gearing up to add a long-requested workout type to its app. A proper Rucking mode is on the way. While the feature is not live just yet, code we’ve uncovered in the latest app update points to a rollout on the horizon.
This is a welcome move for users who have been asking Zepp for better support around hiking and load-based fitness tracking.
Zepp Health’s sport catalog grows
If you dig through the latest Zepp Health app (v9.10.3, August 2025), you will spot references to a new sport mode – Rucking. This is likely a direct response to the steady drumbeat of requests from users, who have wanted this option for outdoor and functional fitness tracking. There’s also a mention of Mountain hiking in addition to the previously available Hiking mode.
Rucking is a popular training method that blends brisk walking with carrying weight, either in a backpack or vest. It is widely used for general fitness, endurance building and even military-style workouts. Until now, Amazfit watch users have had to log this activity under generic walking or custom workouts. That has meant key training metrics, such as pack weight, have not been tracked natively.
Here’s what changed in the app code between July and August. The snippet below shows how Rucking has been introduced as selectable sports in the platform’s database. It was not there last month.

Rucking brings a dedicated “weighted load” metric
The update does not stop at simply adding rucking as a label. Zepp Health is also building out specific support for the weighted load metric, which is essential for tracking this type of workout properly. According to the code, rucking activities will include a field for “weighted load” alongside distance and duration.
You can see this in the following code snippet, which reveals the new metric coming to the activity profile.

When will users see this on their watches?
At the time of writing, Rucking is not yet available as a selectable option on Amazfit watches or within the Zepp Health app itself. When a feature appears at this stage in the code, it almost always points to a rollout in the coming weeks or months. Zepp Health typically begins with groundwork in the app, then follows up with device firmware and visible UI updates.
Also, this could be tied to a new watch release. The company has a scheduled event on the opening day of IFA in Berlin (September 5th), so they may drop something new. Hopefully, the feature will roll out to older watches as well.
