Garmin Venu 4 adds flashlight, fitness coach & new sleep tools
Garmin has launched the Venu 4. It packs new health tracking features, on-wrist coaching, along with an LED flashlight into a sleeker metal case.
Design and battery stay strong
Like before, the Venu 4 comes in two sizes, 41mm and 45mm. These are priced from $549.99 or £469.99 on Garmin’s website. You can choose from refined finishes like lunar gold with light sand or silver with citron, paired with silicone or leather bands.

As you’d expect, the AMOLED display is bright and sharp. The interesting bit is that this generation adds a built-in LED flashlight, making it the first time that feature has arrived in the mainline Venu series.
Battery life still holds up well. The 45mm version offers up to 12 days in smartwatch mode, while the 41mm model manages 10 days. That is a slight drop from the 14-day figure of the Venu 3, though both versions now offer that runtime even with the always-on display turned on.

Health status and lifestyle tracking get smarter
Garmin is positioning this release as a true all-purpose wellness companion. The new Health Status feature, currently in beta, pulls together HRV, heart rate, skin temperature, respiratory rate and blood oxygen. It watches for changes in your normal patterns that could point to illness, poor recovery, or stress. It’s similar to what other platforms like Whoop and Oura have been doing with health monitoring. It’s good to see Garmin joining in the fun. Hopefully older generation watches will get this via firmware updates.

Another new addition is Lifestyle Logging. You can now record caffeine and alcohol consumption directly from the watch. Garmin Connect will then show how those habits relate to sleep quality, HRV and overall recovery. These tools are built to help users connect cause and effect, rather than just collect data. This sounds very much along the lines of the Whoop Journaling feature. So another nice addition.

Sleep tracking has also been improved. The Venu 4 now includes Sleep Alignment and Sleep Consistency metrics, helping you understand how your bedtime matches your natural rhythm and how regularly you stick to it. Garmin is clearly aiming to match the growing trend in circadian rhythm analysis.

Fitness coach and accessibility tools round things out
The debut of Garmin Fitness Coach on the Venu 4 brings a new layer of guidance. These are heart-rate based workout plans for over 25 supported activities including walking, rowing, indoor cycling and HIIT. The plans adapt based on your recovery, sleep, and previous effort. There is also a new mixed-session mode, which lets you track multiple activities in one workout.

The watch still includes a built-in mic and speaker, which allows for phone calls, voice assistant commands, and audio feedback. Accessibility options have also expanded. The new spoken watch face can read out time and health data, and colour filter options (like grayscale or red-green assist) have been added for users with colour blindness.
The Venu 4 follows a string of major launches from Garmin this year, including the Forerunner 970, the premium Venu X1, and the Fenix 8 Pro. Despite that crowded field, the Venu 4 remains the best pick for those who want rich wellness insights in a stylish everyday watch.
