Amazfit strengthens HYROX ties as 2025 season kicks off
Zepp Health is doubling down on HYROX as the 2025 season gets underway in the UK. With a record 105 events planned worldwide, up 30% from last year, the brand is stepping up its presence both through athlete partnerships and dedicated training support.
HYROX training is a mix of running and functional workouts done back to back, like a fitness race. You run a bit, then stop and do something tough like sled pushes, rowing, or burpees, then run again and repeat. The official race format follows the same structure, but training sessions can vary depending on what you’re working on. The aim is to build both strength and endurance, and to keep moving efficiently through each challenge without burning out.
Training tools built for the HYROX format
The Balance 2 and T-Rex 3 Pro (view on Zepp Health’s website) both include a dedicated HYROX Training Mode designed to support the demands of hybrid fitness. It works alongside the existing Competition Format and Race Mode, giving athletes more ways to structure their preparation. The feature was shaped with input from HYROX athletes to reflect how they actually train. The standard T-Rex 3 also includes the same functionality.
Through the Zepp App, users can import personalised training plans and track their progress using well-known interval formats including AMRAP, EMOM and Tabata. These are widely used by HYROX athletes and are especially suited to the hybrid nature of the sport.
Hunter McIntyre, HYROX Elite 15 competitor and Amazfit ambassador, played a key role in shaping the mode.
“The products are great – they listen to me when I have input, and I get actionable insights that help drive my training,” he said. “We almost got it done last year in Chicago – this year, I’m here for the gold.”
The T-Rex 3 Pro, in particular, stands out as a well-rounded training companion. I’ve spent some time with it, and it’s the most polished version of Zepp Health’s outdoor watch yet. It keeps that tough, chunky feel but adds a few smart upgrades like titanium, sapphire glass, and a smaller 44mm size that actually fits slimmer wrists. Battery life’s still great, and little extras like the flashlight, speaker and BioCharge score make it more useful day to day.
New Elite athletes join the Amazfit roster
To match the sport’s global growth, Zepp Health has added four new names to its Elite athlete lineup. Rich Ryan (USA), Joanna Wietrzyk (Australia), Emilie Dahmen (Netherlands), and Linda Meier (Germany) each bring a different background and competitive mindset. Between them, they’ve completed 51 HYROX races, and all are well-known within the community.
Wietrzyk’s professional tennis background gives her a strong edge in power and pace. Dahmen, Meier, and Wietrzyk have already proven themselves in HYROX competition and are now training with Amazfit gear to push further.
“I hadn’t relied on a watch or performance data before, and reaching the HYROX Elite 15 without it was already a huge achievement,” said Dahmen. “Now, Amazfit gives me the tools to train smarter, recover better, and truly compete at the highest level.”
Zepp Health looks like it’s trying to meet HYROX athletes where they are. The tools already in the watches and app give people a way to plan and track training that actually fits this kind of sport. It’s a step up from just logging a run or gym session.
