Bevel app now free as AI tier becomes optional
Most of Bevel is now free. With version 2.4.0, the app has shifted from a paywalled model to offering nearly all features at no cost. This isn’t a freemium trial or a limited unlock. Core tools like historical health data, Strength Builder, Nutrition and Sleep Alarm are now available to all users without charge.
That includes full retrospective analysis of your metrics, workout planning tools, and personalised health nudges that previously sat behind a subscription. For anyone who’s used Bevel before or dropped it because of the pricing, this update flips the script. You get all of that for free, straight out of the box.
With a Whoop-like interface and focus on recovery and strain, the popular Bevel app is handy. It can pull in your health data from devices like Apple Watch, Garmin and Amazfit. It’s clean, smart and easy to use if you’re trying to stay on top of your health without overthinking it.
Bevel Intelligence stays premium for now
The one thing you still have to pay for is Bevel Intelligence. That’s the app’s AI engine, which offers smart summaries, deeper context, along with conversational breakdowns of your health trends. Think of it as a chatbot layer that helps interpret what your data means and how different variables relate.
Some users are debating whether it’s worth the monthly cost, especially now that the base metrics are free. For casual users, the gap might not matter much. But for those who want Bevel to double as a personalised coach or health analyst, Intelligence might be worth the charge.
There’s also speculation that a “Bevel Pro” tier will arrive with version 3.0, introducing additional paid features beyond Intelligence. So this may be a midpoint rather than a final destination.
What if you’re already paying?
Existing subscribers are being kept in the loop. If you had a subscription before the change, it will be grandfathered through to 2026. That means full access to Intelligence and any new features added to your plan won’t require another payment for now.
It’s a generous move that suggests Bevel doesn’t want to punish early adopters. But it also hints at a shift in their business model, possibly toward a freemium base with opt-in coaching tools layered on top.
There’s some skepticism, naturally. A few are wondering whether the AI tier will evolve fast enough to justify its price, and whether a future Pro tier could pull key features back behind a paywall. But for now, most of the commentary is positive.
Extra polish in the update
Alongside the pricing changes, version 2.4.0 also brings a tweaks. The UI is cleaner, food search has been improved and Garmin sync is apparently more stable. None of that steals the show, but it rounds out the update nicely.
The rollout is being phased, so some users might need to manually update the app or wait a few days to see the changes. But it’s clear the transition is underway.
