Missing BioCharge on your Amazfit Bip 6 or Active 2? A fix is coming soon
Firmware updates for the Amazfit Active 2 and Bip 6 recently introduced BioCharge, Zepp Health’s readiness-style metric that replaces the older Readiness Score. But not all users received the feature, leading to confusion and complaints across social media.
Zepp Health has now confirmed that a second firmware rollout is planned for mid-February, and this one will bring BioCharge to all Active 2 and Bip 6 units. The company says it’s aiming for full coverage across both watch lines, regardless of when the device was manufactured.
Some watches still lack the feature
While many devices successfully made the switch from Readiness to BioCharge in the last firmware update, several users reported that their watches showed no change. Posts quickly surfaced on Reddit and other forums asking if the feature had been delayed or removed. A Zepp Health representative stepped in to clarify that the initial rollout did not cover all variants, but a follow-up update will close the gap.
The company encourages users not to pursue exchanges for devices that are technically capable of running BioCharge, and instead to wait for the February update. The rep described the partial release as an oversight and apologised for the confusion it caused.
Hardware differences remain a concern
That hasn’t satisfied everyone. Multiple users have pointed out that later production runs of the Active 2 and Bip 6 include 64MB of PSRAM, double what earlier versions shipped with. Some features, such as Night Display, Text Size options, Zoom, and the Double-Tap button shortcut, appear to be missing from the lower-RAM units, with no clear path forward.
There’s growing speculation that BioCharge will be ported to these devices in a lightweight form that limits background processes to avoid performance issues. Others worry that this will only delay the inevitable, as more advanced features push the hardware closer to its limits.
Some argue that Zepp Health should have labelled the two hardware versions more clearly at the point of sale or even pulled the under-specced units from circulation. Others call for compensation in the form of exchanges or partial refunds.
A few users who upgraded to the Amazfit Active Max say they’re happy to leave the confusion behind, calling the newer model more responsive and feature-rich. But for those sticking with their original Active 2 or Bip 6, it remains unclear whether BioCharge will be the last major feature they receive.
