Honor Watch GS 5 gets official with 23 day battery and health tracking focus
Honor has officially launched the Watch GS 5 today, confirming all the specifications after earlier teasers and leaks. The watch brings a lightweight design, AMOLED display, long battery life and heart risk screening features for an affordable price.
A few days ago, we covered the initial teaser campaign, which hinted at a strong health focus and long battery performance. That preview is now complete. The Watch GS 5 is real, and we now have the full breakdown of specs and what buyers can expect.
Lightweight build with a sharp display
The device comes in a 44 millimetre round case with a thickness of just 9.9 millimetres. Honor uses a lightweight aluminium composite which helps keep the watch’s total weight down to 26 grams. It’s rated at 5 ATM water resistance, which should make it safe for swimming and general water exposure.
Up front is a 1.32 inch AMOLED display with 466 x 466 resolution. That’s paired with a peak brightness of 1,500 nits, which should make outdoor visibility solid even in bright conditions. It’s a step up from many budget smartwatches in terms of sharpness and brightness.
Battery life and core features
Battery life is one of the main selling points. Honor claims up to 23 days on a single charge under standard use. That drops to around nine days when the always-on display is active, which still puts it ahead of many wearables with similar screens.

There’s a built-in GPS module, along with NFC support for contactless features. You also get speakers and microphones onboard, which means voice control and possibly Bluetooth calling, though that part will depend on software and region.
The watch runs an AI voice assistant and supports over 100 sport modes, covering most mainstream workouts.
Health tracking features
The GS 5 includes a heart rate sensor and ambient light sensor, with Honor highlighting a range of heart monitoring features. This includes alerts for potential atrial fibrillation, irregular rhythms and sleep apnoea risk. Honor is careful to point out that these are risk assessments, not diagnostic tools.
There’s also standard sleep tracking, stress monitoring and cycle tracking. These are common features now, but still expected in a watch at this price point.
Pricing and availability
The Watch GS 5 is launching in China at 699 yuan, which converts to just under 90 euros. Global availability hasn’t been detailed yet, but the price positioning suggests Honor is targeting budget-conscious users who still want a full feature set.
With its AMOLED screen, long battery life and expanding health toolkit, this watch could end up competing directly with Huawei’s budget offerings and some Amazfit models, depending on how the international version shapes up.
