Premium variant of Amazfit Active 3 appears in new FCC registration
A few days ago we uncovered the first mention of the Amazfit Active 3 Premium in the Zepp app code, showing that development was well underway. Now we’ve got confirmation that it’s a real product, with final packaging and FCC registration details revealing more about its specs.
Retail packaging confirms the name and voice capabilities
The model number A2559 has now appeared in the FCC database, registered under ID 2AC8UA2559. This confirms the device is being produced by Zepp Health and that it’s headed for global distribution. What’s especially notable is that the FCC paperwork refers to the model specifically as Amazfit Active 3 Premium. There is no mention of a standard or non-premium version anywhere in the filing or in the retail sticker layout. That raises the question of whether this will be a single-variant release, or if other models are still in development.
The new packaging file also confirms the final name and box contents. It includes the usual setup: watch body, strap, charging puck and instruction manual. The regulatory logos span multiple markets. US, EU, UK, Singapore and Japan are all accounted for, suggesting that this will not be a China-only release.
Bluetooth details hint at feature set
The FCC filing confirms the watch uses Bluetooth 5.3 and supports both standard Bluetooth and the low-power connection used for syncing with phones. This combination is typically used when a watch supports features like Bluetooth calling, rather than simple notifications alone.
It also shows the watch uses an internal antenna built into the case. That’s a normal choice for a sealed smartwatch design and fits with expectations around water resistance.
Interestingly, the battery that will be on-board is 500mAh. For comparison purposes, the one that can be found on Amazfit Active Max is 658mAh.
Phone compatibility is broad, with support for Android 7.0 or later and iOS 15.0 or later, which matches other recent Amazfit watches running Zepp OS.
From code strings to final product
In our original teardown article, the Active 3 Premium name was discovered as a new string reference inside the Zepp app. At the time, there was no confirmation this would actually launch. That is no longer in doubt.
It is still unclear if we will see a non-premium variant. To remind, last year the company had two versions. For now it is not possible to say whether there will be an Active 3 without the Premium tag.
