Just four to five minutes of VILPA per day was associated with an 18% reduction in overall cancer risk and up to a 32% reduction in cancers specifically linked to physical activity.

Professor Emmanuel Stamatakis, the study’s lead author, drew a parallel between VILPA and High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), a popular form of exercise known for its health benefits. Unlike HIIT, which requires a structured workout, VILPA can be seamlessly incorporated into everyday activities. This encompasses activities such as engaging in vigorous household chores, taking brisk walks, and participating in energetic games with children. It could be as straightforward as climbing a few sets of stairs.
