Zepp Health’s Amazfit Balance: A lifestyle companion
On the opening day of IFA 2023, Zepp Health introduced the Amazfit Balance. This is a smartwatch that goes beyond conventional metrics for a comprehensive approach to wellness. With features such as mental and physical readiness scores, AI-driven wellness services, body composition measurement, and contactless payment, the Amazfit Balance aims to be an integral part of your daily life, guiding you towards a balanced lifestyle.
When it comes to design, the Amazfit Balance doesn’t disappoint. Available in two colours—Sunset Grey and Midnight—the device is as stylish as it is functional. Its dimensions of 46 x 46 x 10.6mm and a weight of just 36 grams make it comfortable for all-day wear. The body is crafted from an aluminum alloy middle frame and a fiber-reinforced polymer bottom shell, offering a blend of durability and comfort.
The device features two buttons, including a crown, for easy navigation. It’s also 5 ATM water-resistant, making it suitable for activities like swimming or jogging in the rain. The display is a sizeable 1.5-inch AMOLED screen, offering vibrant colors and sharp visuals.

Health features that go beyond the basics
Balance takes on-board and enhances the health and fitness basics from other Amazfit watches thanks to the upgraded dual-LED and 8PD BioTracker 5.0 PPG biometric optical sensor. In fact, Zepp Health says the series “takes the baton from the brand’s Amazfit GTR and GTS family of smartwatches”. We’re not sure if that spells the end of the GT series – probably just a pause.
What’s particularly interesting about Amazfit Balance are the new features it brings.
The Readiness Score: A morning ritual with purpose
Imagine waking up and immediately knowing how prepared your body and mind are for the day ahead. The Amazfit Balance makes this a reality with its Readiness feature. It’s something akin to the Training Readiness feature that can be found on some Garmin watches, Fitbits and Whoop.
This isn’t just another number; it’s a comprehensive score based on sleep indicators and expert-backed research. The metric was developed in collaboration with sleep medicine experts like Dr. Lisa Meltzer and aims to provide actionable insights that can help you tailor your day for optimal mental and physical performance. Should you push hard today or take it easy? Let your Readiness Score be the guide.
AI-Driven wellness: A personal coach on your wrist
The Amazfit Balance doesn’t just track your wellness; it actively guides you towards it. Through Zepp Aura, the device’s AI-powered wellness service, you receive personalized sleep guidance and relaxation tools. Amazfit Balance users in the US and Europe will receive a complimentary three-month trial of the Zepp Aura Premium service upon purchase.
What also sets the device apart is its chat AI for fitness and sleep coaching. Also part of the subscription, these aren’t generic tips. They’re tailored responses to your specific queries, making your wellness journey more interactive and personalized.
Body composition: A comprehensive health snapshot
Another interesting addition are body composition measurements right from the wrist. While most wearables focus on basic metrics like heart rate and step count, the Amazfit Balance takes it a step further. According to the press releaes, the device is capable of measuring body fat percentage, skeletal muscle, muscle, water, bone mass, protein, BMI and Basal Metabolism from the upper body.

For individuals seeking a more comprehensive analysis, connecting the device to the Amazfit Body Composition Analyzer Mat offers an extensive overview of overall health. While real-world tests will ultimately determine the precision of these metrics, it’s worth noting that smart scales often falter in gauging parameters other than weight. However, it’s possible that Zepp Health has successfully honed the accuracy of such measurements. We keep an open mind.
Zepp Pay: Streamlining daily transactions
The Amazfit Balance recognizes that well-being is not solely about numerical indicators but also involves making your life easier. To this end, it incorporates Zepp Pay, a touch-free payment function. Created in collaboration with Mastercard and Curve, the payment system works in 31 European nations and with 30 distinct financial entities.
All of this runs on Zepp OS 3.0. This is the latest version of the company’s operating system.

Battery and GPS: Longevity meets precision
One of the most critical aspects of any smart wearable is battery life, and the Amazfit Balance does not dissapoint. With a battery capacity of 475 mAh, the device offers up to 14 days of typical usage. For those who are conscious about battery consumption, a saver mode extends this up to a whopping 25 days.
Finally, let’s not forget the dual-band GPS feature of Amazfit Balance. This ensures more accurate tracking, whether you’re out for a run or navigating through a busy city. In Accuracy GPS Mode, the device can last up to 26 hours, making it a reliable companion for long-distance activities.
Pricing and availability
